Natal cameos in Smallville, makes Superman fly photo

I don't watch Smallville, but I don't think that is Superman in this clip over at Engadget. It must be some other person discovering his powers, right? If it is Superman hasn't that show been on for like 8 years or something? He's just learning he can fly? What the hell has been going on all this time? What's the point of a show about Superman if there is no Superman? Please tell me that's some other character with all of Superman's powers.

Oh, yes, gaming. They're playing Natal. Evidently another of Supeman's (or whomever this is) powers is to fly to the future, get a game/controller that hasn't been released yet and then teleport back in time, put  it in Lois' apartment and have no one think anything of it. Also, apartently it is not the yellow sun of earth that makes Superman (or this guy) fly, but the ball dodging action of Natal.

Though I don't watch Smallville, I feel that Superman (or this dude) flying is probably a big moment. How much do you think Microsoft paid to be the centerpiece of that?

Project Natal makes a Smallville cameo, does not guarantee ability to fly* [Engadget]

I can't believe Smallville is still on...I used to watch the show all the time until about the 5th or 6th season...That's not Clark in the video. Unless Tom Welling got sick of the show like Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) and left. And No, Clark could never fly on the show. The creators said the two things they will never do is let him fly or put him in the superman outfit. As to what has been going on in the show for the last 8 seasons? A lot of mediocrity..as to Nadal this is no surprise as Smallvile probably has more product placement than any other show I can think of.

The person learning to Fly was a freak of the week and had similar powers to Clark in that episode. Clark still cant fly in the show. hes only just started using a costume aswell

Smallville has to be the most drawn out show ever. More so than any episode of Lost even. It should ended ages ago or moved on to a Superman series instead.

I hope they didn't pay much because Smallville has been completely tanking in the ratings for the past couple of years.

Just about everyone I know is surprised that it's still on.

I noticed that and was like "Wtf?" Smallville always seems to have sweet tech before it's released.

That's not Clark.. who the fuck is that dude?

Also, I stopped watching last midway through last season because Michael Rosenbaum made that show. But what I hear now is that this season is actually pretty cool and much of it is written by Geoff Johns, so I think I'll have to start checking it out again.

I stopped watching Smallville a few years ago, but I still have a bit of a soft spot for the show. And a hard spot for Chloe, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

An erection.

Yeah Clark is just learning how to fly in the season. I started watching when they announced the 2 hour episode which was surprisingly good.

Yeah haven't watched Smallville in years. Didn't know Rosenbaum left. That dude's not Clark.

I wonder why they won't let him fly?

I regret watching that. Has nothing to do with games, really. Just the acting.

Couldn't they have picked a good show?

I didn't realize anyone even liked Smallville, let alone watched it on a regular basis.

Geoff Johns wrote an episode, so that was for win. Hawkman was in it. Daniel Jackson played him using Christian Bale's Batman voice. It was rediculously schmaltzy and full of win because of it.

I actually recall them having Clark fly seasons ago (I never watched the show regularly), but only when he was brainwashed or something?

I see there's no Smallville love in these parts. That's OK, as I have enough to go around. I've been watching the show since it started -- and while I don't always like every change in the Superman mythos -- I don't let it bother me.

If they did everything by the book, we might as well not watch the show. We would know exactly what is going to happen from beginning to end. I still think it's odd that Clark (WFT? Tom Welling isn't Reeves, but he makes a great Clark)can't fly on command, but that too was explained during this season's opener. Do I agree with some parts being lame? Of course, but overall, the show has been getting better since Green Arrow first came on board.

Lex may be gone for now, but let's not forget that he's not the only bad guy that Superman fought in his life. Give it a shot again... you just might like it now.

My boyfriend recommended the recent movie-length episode about the Justice Society, and it was indeed pretty great (facts about me and my biases: im a comics nerd but i dislike smallville strongly, normally), if you can withstand some horrid, rubber/ plasticky costumes.

@DinnerTimeNinja: That isn't true, actually. The show was moved to Fridays where everyone expected it to completely die, but instead it thrived and even beat its own season high. The two hour movie that just aired last week had the CW's highest ratings since Sept. 2008, and it won in the key 18-34 demo.

It isn't doing CBS numbers, but it's meeting CW's expectations and there's a good chance it will get renewed for another season.
