Metal Gear Online is a game that never gets as much attention as its relatives, but perhaps this anniversary DLC will spark a little more interest in the game. New downloadable costumes have been launched, adding filthy bikini action to the title. If you've wanted to see Naomi shed the white coat and get her norks out, this is the DLC for you!
Hit the jump for a video of the saucy garments at work. I think you'll agree that the footage is just a little bit odd, to say the least. Somebody should ban this sick filth.

Meet the rest of the team
I would maybe have played MGO more if you didn't have to jump through so many hoops just to get it to work. Also it would have been nice if people couldn't absorb whole clips of bullets to the chest and live.
I've always been a huge proponent of having female avatars in shooter games... but wow... this is one giant step backwards!
I just never really liked the gameplay of MGO and had already traded the game in by the time they offered Meryl and other female avatar options - and I was happy to hear that they had incorporated female avatars as DLC... but as a female gamer, this recent development just doesn't make me happy.
Granted, Kojima has a rather odd sense of sexual humour and often incorporates androgynous characters and homosexual humour... I mean this is a game where a "weapon" is a dirty magazine (which I do find funny!), so this recent DLC is somewhat in line with the odd humour of the game - however, that being said, the "step forward" of incorporating female avatars so that women might be more encouraged to try the game, so that females that did play the game might feel a better sense of identification with their characters - all that is lost now in this blatant pandering to the lowest common denominator of "sex sells" and "only guys play video games".
... now if they offered leopard print tidy-whities for the guys to wear... I might not feel quite so offended. :(
Umm...that's not the annaversary DLC. That comes tonight(tomorrow in the AM) and features Solid Snake as a playable special character outside of Sneaking mode, as well as the Shadow Moses Map. Also coming is the 1.32 patch that Europe and Japan have been enjoying for a month already(fuck Konami of America, hate them sooo much).
That being said though, I hate all people that buy the Bikini and DON'T WEAR ANY OF THE CHEST GEAR WITH IT. WTF!? That just shows a distinct lack of originality(and a good deal of perversion).
Oh, and, yes, you read that right. Konami does make you pay to take your shirt off.
@ Palidi:
LMAO! That was pretty much the ultimate in being Rick-rolled! (I loved it!)
.. the "charm skill" must be newer, I don't recall it being in the original MGO, and while guys can be shirtless, that's been done before in video games (though I guess when you think it over, it could be some perverse attempt at "equality" by giving the option of a bikini top for girls, if the guys get shirtless)
Eh... it suits the nature of the game, but I hope other games don't try this. My preference was for the R6Vegas female model... realistic and not overly sexualized - she blended in well with the other avatars.
Thanks for that link though... it made my day!!! :)
Well, to be fair(and yes, Charm skill is from the SCENE expansion), all the MGO avatars look detached from reality. Anyhow, the more "serious" or "realistic" styled stuff is still there. This is just another option for character creation for those who want it in the same style of the game.
As for the shirtless == Bikini, that's more of a societal thing(both Japanese and American) with demonizing breasts or something like that, i don't know exactly, i'm not a sociologist.
@Elsa
I wouldn't single out Kojima as the one with a perverse sense of humor (to be sure, he probably gives final approval for all things MGS4\MGO). For the most part the whole Japanese culture is pretty perverted--but I guess that's what you'd expect from a sexually repressed society.
While it may be easier to perform brain surgery on yourself than it is to set up MGO, I found he gameplay to be pretty damn fun--plus the bleeding stops a lot sooner.
I bailed on it when SCENE was announced, though :(
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
And now, I watch the video.
Jim you've introduced me to Bayonetta. I would have to lower my standards quite a few notches to even take an interest in this.
But one headshot and they're dead , if you're using a rifle you're not supposed to shoot in the chest . (also , never use automatic)

oh, and @Elza:
The male avatars got the option to buy the "Naked"(aka. Shirtless) option with the Bikini update too(and it cost less too at just 50RP to the 3000-10000RP for a Bikini). Oh, and males do this with the charm skill(skip to 1:39 to see it, trust me, it's epic).
That being said though, I hate all people that buy the Bikini and DON'T WEAR ANY OF THE CHEST GEAR WITH IT. WTF!? That just shows a distinct lack of originality(and a good deal of perversion).

Check your facts next time please, Jim.

Glad you enjoyed the vid though.
