Wow, what are you guys doing over there, Namco Bandai? Your second quarter financial results for gaming showed a nasty 92.4 percent drop, down from last year's $45.5 million to $3.4 million this year.

According to GamesIndustry, the recent release of Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit on the PS3 and Xbox 360 helped them out a bit, as did some PS2 and DS games. But I guess it wasn't enough.

Thankfully, Namco Bandai is a big company, with other divisions outside games. In the overall scheme of things, they're doing fine.

How about more Tales games and less stuff like We Cheer. Wait, that may not help.

Hey namco how about making games for Sony again. That might help your sales. Fortunately AC6 was garbage or else Id be more pissed.

That's what they get for giving us trash like Burst Limit. Give us an updated super-badass Tenkaichi game!

This is probably in direct correlation to their supreme idiocy. CasualWeaponry has a great point, but I think that is precisely the reason why they are losing so much money. Gamers are voting with their money and not buying the ridiculous crap they are peddling.

Wow! I guess maybe that had a slow quarter without any major releases or something. 92.4% is a completely outlandish difference.

After the SC IV DLC scam I think I could be happy never buying a SCAMCO game ever again.

I find those numbers hard to believe. With the number of games they've released and the amount of sales some of them have gotten, there's no way they couldn't have turned a profit.

Dear people who said games were recession-proof:

Checkmate.

But wow, 92.4%? That's not just bad... that's troubling. I would not be surprised if it means that Namco either lays off some people or refocuses their teams on producing fewer shovelware-esque titles.

If $3.4 million is the profit, not the revenue, that's nothing to worry about, especially for a game company.

"The latest title in the enduring franchise [DBZ: Burst Limit] sold 728,000 units in Japan, Europe and America together. Japan-only Super Robot Wars also pitched in with 510,000 units, and We Ski, released in the U.S. and Europe, sold 456,000 units.

Last-gen DBZ title Budokai Tenkaichi 3 sold 420,000 units in Europe, while DS title Taiko Drum Master 2 sold 342,000 units in Japan. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja, a PS2 title, sold 324,000 units, while Soul Calibur IV continues to make the company's top ten in Japan at 189,000 units."

Noooo! No more Tales games, it seems like 9 out of every 10 jRPGS released in the last 2 years were Tales games, can we have a different game please? Remember when Japan used to make more RPGs than just Tales and Final Fantasy?

Where the hell are the Lunar, Chrono, Xenogears, Phantasy Star and
Seiken Denetsu teams these days?

I'd be down for more Tales games as long as the team that made Tales of Legendia stays far away.

more tales games? sadly they haven't been all that great since tales of destiny. At the very least the move to 3D was a poor decision the game had much more style as a 2D RPG which is the case with many games (I'm looking at your castlevania/star ocean/valkyrie profile 2(which was good but still)/etc.

I swear a new Tales game comes out every week. I favor the Phantasia/symphonia universe so I'll pick up the new symphonia some time soon.
The problem with JRPGs are they're all pretty much the same cliched wank. They barely try and do anything new, the characters are always the same archetypes, with the same motivations and they have the same comic relief every time. I want something new and exciting, something that makes me question morality or social values and beliefs.
