Dark Souls II is launching this week on consoles, but PC gamers will have to wait until April 25th to pick up their copy. While you're sitting there twiddling your thumbs, check out the PC requirements (minimum and recommended) to see if you can even run it in the first place.

I'm really interested in seeing if it turns out better than their first effort with Dark Souls, which needed a number of mods to unlock its true potential.

Minimum

  • OS: Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8
  • Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 555 3.2Ghz or Intel Pentium Core  2 Duo E8500 3.17Ghz
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT, ATI RadeonHD 5870
  • Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Compatible with DirectX 9.0c or higher
  • Network: Internet connection required for online play and product activation

Recommended

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1
  • Processor: Intel CoreTM i3 2100 3.10GHz or AMD A8 3870K 3.0GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 or higher, ATI Radeon HD 6870 or higher
  • Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Compatible with DirectX 9.0c or higher
  • Network: Internet connection required for online play and product Activation

Review: Dark Souls II: The Crown of the Old Iron King

While Dark Souls II brought me back to that special place that I found with Demon's Souls in many ways, the first DLC pack, Crown of the Sunken King, didn't go far enough with its concepts. It's really hard to give ...more

Review: Dark Souls II: The Crown of the Sunken King

2014 has been very good to me, but Dark Souls II is one of my favorite games of the year. Many debates have raged on as to whether or not it's as exceptional as its predecessor (Demon's Souls is better than bot...more

One week to go: More Dark Souls II DLC screens while we wait

The last batch of images for Crown of the Sunken King left me anticipating this Dark Souls II DLC which is, oh good, only a week off. There's more where that came from. Using an item acquired in the DLC, players will reach th...more

Here's what Dark Souls II would be like as an eSport

A lot of us would find eSports far more alluring if the genres associated with these competitions were more diverse. We see plenty of first-person shooters, RTS, fighting games, and MOBAs. But what about something atypical l...more

It's possible to beat Dark Souls II in 20 minutes

I haven't been keeping up with Dark Souls II speedruns. I should be. We got a tip in this weekend about Marksel's 21:25 world-record any% run, which has since been topped by Distortion2's 20:14 run, included above. Seems the...more

Dark Souls II disappointed, but I'm so ready for the next game

In the weeks leading up to E3, there have been some truly interesting leaks. Headlining that list is undoubtedly "Project Beast," rumored to be the working title for the next From Software game. The next (Demon's?) Souls. The...more

What's your Dark Souls II covenant of choice?

Dark Souls II has been out for a few weeks on consoles, enough time for fans to really dig in, and now PC players have shown up in style. I'm liking the game -- less so than its predecessors, overall -- but still: when I'm no...more

Persona 5 is coming to PS4, gets first trailer

Atlus' YouTube has our first look at Persona 5, which appears to have a ruffled brown haired boy protagonist and subways. Not a lot to get excited about aside from the fact that Persona 5 is exciting inherently. Though there was an announcement of a PS4 version of the previously PS3-restricted title. Makes sense. more
