N+ brings that tasty ninja goodness to DS and PSP

N+ brings that tasty ninja goodness to DS and PSP photo
     Ninjas

Ninjas are fantastic. This has been universally true throughout history. Regardless of context, every ninja in reality or fiction has dripped with pure, sugary, crystalising cool, before flipping off in the burst of a smoke bomb to flip around and be cool elsewhere.

In particular, the relationship between video games and ninjas has traditionally spawned vast teeming hordes of cool, flipping, stabbing, stealth-killing offspring, and that looks to continue with Atari's upcoming N+ for the DS and PSP.

Like Linerider, which is now on the way for the Wii and DS, the game is a conversion of an existing online Flash game, and another damn fine one at that. Essentially a high-speed platform puzzler based around exploiting your character's velocity and inertia through some fiendishly designed levels, it plays like a sugar-rush 2D version of the modern Prince Of Persia series spliced with a dash of the aforementioned Linerider and a big blubbery lump of classic Sonic. I strongly suspect it's also programmed with the ability to inject crack cocaine directly into your eyeballs via your monitor, such is my current addiction to it.

The handheld versions will have a healthy 500 levels when they hit this Winter, including some of the downright satanic fan-created stages, which currently have me sobbing like a lost child and struggling to cope with some serious new self-esteem issues.

In the meantime, check out the original version and this ear-rapingly soundtracked video to get a feel for what the finished version will bring.

My friend Mark said he watched some guy play this game and a ninja came out of the monitor and totally started wailing on a guitar. Right after that the killing began.

Ninjas FTW.

well, N is one of my favorite flash games, and I played it a few years ago, so, it should make for an interesting game. Though, it seems it would be better suited for the PSP than the DS.

Better suited to PSP? I don't mean to go fanboy on you but the DS and DSLite blatantly have the better D-Pad's for this sort of game. I know too many Sony gamer's who's thumbs fell off due to the poorly designed dislocated D pad.

@Tempus

I never actually said that it couldn't be done on DS. I mean, the dual screen setup wouldn't feel right for N+, considering you need a high resolution in the Flash version, and the large maps. Although, as you said, the controls on the DS would be much better.

That has to hurt your nuts, sitting on all those hands like that.

Seriously.

Fuck, I loved N.

I played that until my fingers bled from the sheer amount of ridiculous platforming in it.

Cool.

A change of subject whilst I remember, David Houghton, are you the guy who was going to write an article about Jack Thompson being some sort conceptual performance artist in the Barry Humphries mould? I mentioned it in a comment, then you said you were going to do it anyway, letting me know that you weren't shamelessly theiving my ideas.

Well, if you are he, I have another idea: why not start an ongoing series of made up games that Jack would be proud of, y'know games based on the bible - gang rape, torture, ethnic cleansing, incest, pedphillia, multiple wives, war, stoneings, gay fantasies (in biblical days, entire villages always wated to gang rape male angels it seems) - basically, this "Jack Thomspson Approved Biblical Gaming" has got legs. Just an idea...maybe not a good one, but an idea nevertheless.

I'm thinking the DS version has the potential for some really sweet, massive, double-height, vertical stages a la Sonic Rush.

*prays, not for the first time, that benevolent developers are listening to his thoughts*

This game rocked my entire days for a long, long time... I can't wait for this one, and Line Rider will be a blast, too.

ZOMG, Metal Gear Solid 4 for the 360?!!!!

Oh wait, wrong post. Sorry...

I was sorely tempted to put a "360 version unconfirmed" gag in the title of this one, but Ron's overshadowed me with his mighty comedic update.

zardoz: I am the very same.

Yeah, I love the way any kind of fundamentalist is so easy to mess with. Rigidly holding onto any kind of doctrine so unswervingly like that is always going to tie you up in knots. There was some very weird stuff going on in human culture 2000 years ago by today's standards ...

So this game is like old? lol I never used to care about flash games. How times change eh?

Oh and what's this post David's meant to do? Holy Kombat?

Where's the AK? Or the Angel Powers with frickin laser beams. The closest I've seen to a "religious" game was in the Simpsons I think...
