Mythic and BioWare merge into a single RPG group thing photo

Notable Lakers versus Celtics publisher Electronic Arts recently merged Mythic Entertainment and BioWare into a single RPG super group. Unlike Tapeworm, this stellar group is bound to produce some digestible content: BioWare, at the very least, still has Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins, and Star Wars: The Old Republic slated for release. Mythic, on the other hand, has Warhammer Online.

As usual with these things, studio positions have shifted. BioWare’s Dr. Ray Muzukya is the group’s general manager, while the other doctor, Greg Zeschuk, is the new creative officer. Mythic’s GM has left the company entirely.

In other news, Cold Stone Creamery has JELL-O Pudding ice cream. It’s only available this summer, so if you want to “delight your taste buds” with a “revolutionary” ice cream, act now. Seriously. It’s awesome.

Awesome :D Though I was never a fan of mythic since of all the bugs I encountered with Warhammer.

Bioware also has Mass Effect 3 (Mass Effect was announced as a trilogy) in the future.

I'm not happy about this. I have not been a fan of Mythic. BioWare's a different story. Love them. But I hope this won't hurt them in the long run.

Like watching a girl fight, I've always wondered why these two companies didn't just kiss already..... and now it looks like they have. :-)

@ Elysee - more like forced together in a room and being told they have to repopulate the world with RPG games for face death.

And I still remember the speech where EA wouldn't have any effect on how Bioware would do things. And with Mythic? ungh.

I hope Mythic's involvement doesn't turn SW:TOR into a shameless WoW clone like Warhammer. I was actually planning on buying this game, they had better not screw this up. I do NOT want to play another game exactly like WoW. I think WoW's great, but I've played it for five effing years and would like something different.

Ha, I freaking KNEW IT! I said this was going to happen like freaking 2 years ago. That Mythic would eventual cease to exist as has many EA consumed studios. I have to go gloat now.

It always makes me anxious to hear about great developers merging with (relatively) less great developers, and by EA no less.

But all this talk of Warhammer and Mass Effect reminds me how much I'd like to see a 40k Inquisitor RPG. Seriously guys, do it.

This is how it starts. This is how it always starts.

Now they're "just" getting merged (and people are leaving and shit).

Next, they'll be renamed to something lame like "EA Dumbname" or whatever.

Then, finally, a few years from now we'll all be sitting around, lamenting whatever happened to Bioware and Mythic, yeah those guys were awesome back in the day, it's so sad that EA had to go and fuck everything up yet again, and so on and so forth. The same way many of us do now with Westwood, Origin, Bullfrog, etc.

I totally hope I'm wrong here, but...

There's no merging going on, Mythic is a separate studio and it's staying separate! This is just a management change basically.

I think this is pretty cool, I really like Mythic. DAOC was pretty awesome and Warhammer is also pretty awesome. If this encourages collaboration between Mythic and Bioware - great! I think both studios could learn from one another.

Also I work for Bioware :O Welcome Mythic.
