Mysterious Wii adventure game from France

Mysterious Wii adventure game from France photo
     Artsy fartsy

NeoGAF spotted this Wii game that a French developer is working on. After seeing little of Sadness over the past year, I wouldn't bet that this game gets released any time soon, if ever, but these screenshots have me hoping. The best way I can sum up this game's visuals is Guillermo del Toro pouring bleach on Ico's Yorda, and throwing her in an all new maze of despair. Which sounds way more fun than half the Wii games that have been released so far.

Capucine is an adventure game where everything is dead except you and your capucine flower. As you explore further in the game you must spread light and water to reanimate your surroundings. Things get interesting though, when spreading light also creates shadowy enemies in the environments. Challenged with the goal of creating life rather than destroying it, you're also the one who creates your own opposition. As you try to solve puzzles and bring life back to the mysterious land, the shadows try to steal your flower and rob you of the chance to revive the entire world.

Check out  the pictures below for a better idea of how the adventure game works, and make sure you also check out the video here, and the FAQ here.

Yay for more adventure games! The light gameplay mechanic is really fun looking =) I'm surprised you managed to get your hands on a game that is so unpolished looking still...it feels a lot like a student project...reminds me of college, heh. It has a long way to go, but the idea is kind of unique.

"Guillermo del Toro pouring bleach on Ico's Yorda"

That sums up my initial reaction to the screens beautifully.

If they work on the textures, the game will look alright.

I liked Ico, so this game might be suit me.

People have been quick to shit all over the graphics but I for one find the screens captivating. Do check out the music clips for this game, they're beautiful. I for one am going to keep an eye on this.

Fuck that shit! Bring it back when you can make it look a little less like shit. Just because its on the Wii doesnt mean it should look terrible and bad graphics cant be forgiven just because its an early build.

Speaking of Guillermo del Toro, a Pan's Labyrinth adventure game would be awesome.

I was disappointed with pan's labyrinth, thought it was like Anne Frank meets Schindler's List meets Lord of the Rings. Hey that might be a good game!

But this looks great. The concept of avoiding the evil that you can create is intriguing

Luigi's Mansion and Zelda crossed with a little bit of American McGee's Alice. Looks interesting.

I love the pastel colour palette the overworld has, its dream like, sort of like the end of majora's mask. I think the graphics are actually pretty good, the trees look good to me, and yes- water looks good but Tenmen there was water in Zelda and Mario Sunshine even that looked better than this water...

Early build aside I'd say the game is showing a ton of promise, got to refine that main character and fix up some animation. Could be a really cool game.

Mario Sunshine water FTW!

This game sounds really interesting; it's exactly the type of game I've been looking for (an adventure game that my wife will play).

@bleep

How the hell were you disappointed with Pan's Labyrinth?? Were you disappointed that it didn't turn out to be a kiddy flick? Because I was VERY pleased. I was expecting to see a boring, cutesy children's movie. Boy was I WRONG! That movie was flippin' incredible. And I agree with Mxyzptlk. I think an adventure game based on this movie would be sweet. Hell, they made games based on Harry Potter for fuckssake...talk about disappointing...
