Yeah, I was excited when the news first hit about Myst DS, and then as most gamers tend to do, I played a hundred other titles since then and forgot all about it. As soon as I saw this gameplay footage clip, however, I was jumping for joy over again. The load times look so much shorter! Check out the cool little touch menu at the bottom! My DS is going to be playing cool atmospheric music!

Yes, I know it's an old game, and I don't care. I'd replay every one of my favorite adventure games if they were rereleased to the DS. In general, a rerelease like this makes me hopeful for the future -- DS releases have been not only good but quirky, and here's to hoping they remain that way.

Never played it back in the day.

If this is faithful to the original, I'll pick it up.

Looks pretty much like shot for shot reproduction to me, getting and getting again.

I never played myst. It's always seemed like the most intimidating game ever made. Is it?

Oh, and who played the MMO sequel?

@topgeargorilla - It is a challenge to play because it makes you think, but no , definitely not the most intimidating game of all time. You should try it.

Also I played the MMO sequel and it was a giant pile of crap.

Hated this game in its day, still hate all the adventures with silly names that cloned the concept: Rama, Atlantis, Ring, Bricklspitbob etc. And all Myst sequels sucked as well. Bah!

Just do SCUMM adventures on the DS instead, dammit! Myst is honestly the only game that could drive me into a killing frenzy. That and being forced to get the world highscore for Psycho Pinball.

Never liked Myst. always felt like a slideshow interpersed with logic puzzles. Still the DS could put an interesting control spin on some of it.

Thank god it's point and click, I hated the realMYST remake!

I second the SCUMM games. Also, Sierra adventure titles (including Leisure Suit Larry).

Myst 1 I liked. Didn't play any of the others though. It looks good. Seems as though he had some trouble clicking around a bit.

When is this supposed to be released again?

All I read was Mantra's point and click comment.

More point and clicks please, especially on the DS. If this is what it is, then this is what I get.

It baffles me as to why the DS hasn't been filled with point and click games. If ever there was a console perfect for it it is the DS. A port of Simon the sorceror would be cool, r anything from tim schaefer.

OhmygodMystissoawesome!

But Colette! Shorter load times? Did you actually have load times between points in the world on your PC when you played it? Maybe you just had those 'transitions' on, so that the screen faded from one node to the next? Hopefully you weren't playing it slower for no reason.

And I might have to break down and get a DS. And yes, it might be Myst to make me do it, even though I have the original version CD right in front of me. I also should try Metroid: Hunters. And all the other DS and GBA and original GB titles I've missed out on. (I never ever had a portable, ever. Except I did have the thing that let you play GBA games on the GameCube)

I beat Myst back in the day. The gameplay was basically a series of pictures, each with links that let you choose a direction. Each picture had its own unique sound effects, too. The best parts of the game were the puzzles and how you picked up clues as to what happened on the island (similar to picking up the diaries from BioShock).

It be sweet if they released Longest Journey on the DS, though there is one part of the game that becomes super explicit, by some guy named... the flipper.

Simon the Sorcerer on DS would be awesome. But hard to pixel-click those hidden quest items that lie invisibly on the ground :(

Yeah, me too. I was in a drought of ds games lately, and I tried the SCUMMDS emulator. It's so fun! I'm currently playing "Beneath a steel sky" a game that has been made freely available(and a very good one too), but other games, as sam & max hit the road, and Day of the tentacle are playable as well. And when I say playabe, I mean, like the real deal. no slowdowns, the graphics look as good as they looked in the pc, and the sound works like a charm. I was very pleased

I never got what the big deal was with myst, it just seemed like an interactive photo book. But if this starts a wave of adventure games to the ds, I'm down with it.

I liked the realMyst remake and I'm a little dissapointed the DS version isn't based off of it. Oh well I've played this game to death so it's not like i was going to buy it again anyway.

Nostalgia = Super Mario RPG ftw! The ds could totally handle that action. never played Myst however, willing to try it if I win a copy or something, as money is tight at the moment.

I dunno about Myst, but I'd pick up a DS version of Riven in a second. That one was probably the best in the series IMO. Myst was just a little too thin for me to want to buy it again. I mean I still have the original after all.

Anyone else have book series?

I loved Myst and Riven, but I never played through them more than once. It just didn't seem as intriguing once I knew the answers to the puzzles...

It seemed for a long time western developers were not sure what to do with DS. Now they do and it seems adventure games are at last making a comeback. Myst is very welcome. I never played the PC version so I'll be happy with a DS cut.
I'm sure if Myst goes down well, similar games will follow.

Now Konami, where the hell is my Snatcher DS remake?

Myst is absolute crap (I mean they had to BUNDLE it with every new PC to get RID of copies). Give me my Monkey Island(s), Blade Runner or Day of the Tentacle instead!

Or in fact what about Loom, an amazing classic adventure game from Lucasarts (one people always seem to forget) I used to while away hours on that game. Beneath a Steel Sky is another adventure classic people always seem to forget. There are SO MANY better adventure games than Myst I swear.
