My Steampunk love letter to Destructoid photo

[Editor's note: This blog was written a couple of days before the Steampunk contest was over. As you already know though, BattyAdroit won the Steampunk contest. Check out the Mister D. Structamation photoshoot below! -- CTZ]

Here goes nothing!

This is my formal entry for Destructoid's Steampunk contest, but I also wanted to post it here for anybody who might not be following the contest. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we did creating them! It was a lot of work, but a labor of love.

These are a series of photographs of Mr. Destructoid's Victorian analog, Mister D. Structamation. We find him enjoying a nice day out in the countryside with two of his gorgeous lady friends, Miss Eerie Twilight, and the terribly mysterious Zizuph!

I will be posting a blog soon showing some rather silly pictures of the creation of the D-Mation helmet, as well as some thoughts on how the shoot was done!

I remember you dropping some beta pictures in IRC a while back, but the final product came out WAY better than I was expecting. Jesus Christ, man, this is amazing.

@Caffeine Knight: Yes, it worked! Thank you for the compliment.

A common motif you see is Mr. Destructoid enjoying a nice fat cigar, so I wanted to pay homage to that by having all three of us smoking a different implement - Zizuph with a classic pipe - which is an amusing in contrast with her daintiness, D. Structamation with a cigar of course, and Eerie with her exotic beedie in a fancy telescopic cigarette holder.

Rather than trying to catch the haze of smoke on film, I decided to opt for doing the smoke effects in post production - which of course, is a much more controlled environment. (plus, I neglected to bring a lighter!)
