I hadn't watched an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic before tonight due to a complete lack of exposure. It's as if somehow I have fallen outside of the target demographic for the tale of a young unicorn sent to discover the wonders of friendship through playful adventures. Thank God somebody had the decency to make a fighting game based on the show.
The fan-created work, My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic, will ultimately feature a roster of 17 playable ponies but don't ask them to include any crossover characters. This is a game strictly based in the world of Friendship is Magic, according to an FAQ on the project released by the development team. The game will be coming to PC "soon" and will feature a story mode as well as local and online multiplayer.
As if it were needed, this serves further proof that just about the dumbest thing you can possibly do is assume that you've seen it all.

But if Friendship is Magic, then aren't these ponies robbing the world of magic by brawling as they are? Where is Ma-Ti and his Heart Ring when you need him?
Oh, right. He's one of the Star Sapphires now.
Conrad, you're not the only one; this also fell off my radar; we just ain't the demographic for these shows.
@MasterBalls @ThrashingLimbsEd: as an adult who has long overgrown the old "My Little Pony" series, I thought I was done with most cartoon franchises catered at little girls and thought like you guys, but "Friendship is Magic" is surprisingly good if you can tolerate the usual friendship speeches and whatnot.
I did skip the odd musical act they'd throw once in a while.
As someone that already sort of enjoys Vanguard Princess and Arcana Heart, I guess there's really no harm in going an extra step and playing a fighting game where the little girls are also ponies... if it ends at least half way decent.
Whether you end up liking this game or not, you should definitely go and watch the series it is based on. It's not the My Little Pony that has been around since the 80's/90's, it's completely different. Lauren Faust, who did Power Puff Girls, was the lead on the show in Season 1 and she brought the same since of visual flair, style, and just enough grown up (not "adult" as in naughty, though) humor and situations to make it a hit. She is quoted as saying she didn't just make it for young girls, she made it for the parents, including the dads, that would be watching with them. You're going to be hearing a lot more about this show now that it's hitting mainstream news outlets like Faux News, so you better get used to it. Join the herd or get out of our way.
"I did skip the odd musical act they'd throw once in a while."
You missed some of the best humor in the show, congratulations your anti-cute stupidity cost you dearly. Go back, watch Pinkie Pie sing like a boss, or you will have missed so much.
seriously?! on "wait wait don't tell me" i learned about Bronies. Guys in their 20's and 30's that are obsessed with this show. Apparently it is an entire online community. I had no idead. Then another blog I read just had someone post a clip from the show. And now here. Taking. Over. My. Life.
@Matt Welch: Whoa there, why are you getting so snippy about it? Since you seem to have taken it so personally to go around throwing insults, ok then I didn't skip every single musical number from the show, in fact I loved it when Rarity sang. I am sorry to say I don't like Pinky Pie nor her voice; I'm just not into bubbly characters like her that much. It will come as a surprise for you but not everyone likes the same things you do, jeezus.
Netherrealm studios you can keep Mortal Kombat because we have ponies!! Same thing to you capcom we don't need no stinking Street Fighter now that we have teh ponies!! zOMG PONIEZZZZZ!!
All kidding aside I have to admit I'll probably at least be giving this a try. ;)
Wait, hold the fucking phone pls - we can agree that we all internet-like MLP:FM in a totally not-gay way, the same way we internet-like pictures of cats and shit like that. But this video demonstrates some pretty goddamn good action. I'm actually looking forward checking this out when the time comes.
the real life group of older males that follow this show based on its relavance with magic the gathering or " bronies " no lie will enjoy this game, maybe it will be at evo someday
I'll just add in my usual thoughts. I've watched every episode released and I still don't understand the massive praise for the show. It's entertaining sure, but it doesn't really do anything different or better than any other show has done in the past. It's just pretty much average.
That version of Winter Wrap Up was the bees' knees. Also, Its the 1st day of Summer, which means its the Summer Sun Celebration, aswell as Princess Celestia's Birthday. All hail our Pony Overlord.

Do want.
Waiting for the Care Bears platformer next. It'll be like Rainbow Islands, but with Care Bears.
Dunno why, but I get the feeling that Rainbow Dash might be REALLY cheap. And I demand Derpy Hooves! xP
War never changes... this one just has poniehz
Either way, I am totally maining Pinkie Pie.
