My Little Baby DS: Play peekaboo by opening/closing your DS. I'm not joking photo

Seriously, I'm not joking. You can play peekaboo with your baby by opening and closing your DS and saying "peekaboo" into the DS mic.

My Little Baby is a life simulation game where you raise a baby. Feed it, bathe it, change it, play with it (Technologic!). Fail to take care of your baby and Child Protective Services will take your baby away. Yes, really.

When you start a new game, you'll pick the baby's parents characteristics and traits such as race, hair color, eye color, and so on. After that, you're treated to some scenes of the fetus's life cycle and then your healthy little bundle of joy has arrived at your house (sadly, they skip on the actually birth scene). As the baby grows, it will learn to crawl, walk, and eventually even learn how to talk through your interactions with the microphone.

Since you're going at this alone (I saw no signs of a father, what a bastard), there will be a helpful nanny to help you care for your child. She'll give you tips and watch over the baby as you go on errands to pick up clothes, toys and food for the baby from the convenience stores that just so happen to all be right next to your house. The game will even let you take pictures of your baby and enter them into in-game beauty contests.

So, if you enjoy taking care of things that poop, eat and sleep unnatural hours, then My Little Baby is the game for you! Look for My Little Baby later this year. Also, Fetus.

Release Date: Q4 2008
Publisher: CDV Software Entertainment USA
Developer: dtp Young Entertainment
Genre: Life simulation
Platform: Nintendo DS
My Little Baby is a family-friendly game for the Nintendo DS that gives players the opportunity to raise a baby – all without the real-world messes, sleepless nights, or “terrible two’s.” Players start by creating virtual parents, whose unique characteristics – eye color, hair color, skin tone, etc. – determine the baby’s physical features. Once the baby arrives, it’s up to the player to care for it – cradling, feeding, cleaning, entertaining and dressing the baby. As the baby grows, it will learn to crawl, then walk, and through interactions with the player via the Nintendo DS’ microphone, can even learn to talk!
A helpful virtual nanny offers feedback and useful tips for raising the baby; while an easy-to-use menu system helps players navigate the world of raising a newborn – from shopping for unlockable food, toys, furniture and clothing to changing diapers. Many of the day-to-day tasks are presented through enjoyable and intuitive mini-games, with mastery praised and rewarded.
Doting parents can also take photos of their beautiful new baby for the scrap book, or enter them into an in-game beauty contest!
Key Features include:
·    Choose the physical traits of the parents to influence the baby’s appearance.
·    Raise a newborn baby through four developmental stages of early childhood by feeding, clothing and caring for her.
·    A helpful virtual nanny guides the player to ensure the baby’s well-being, measured in seven contentedness indicators.
·    Take your baby shopping for toys, furniture, clothing, food and other necessities; new items are continually unlocked as the baby develops.
·    Fun and intuitive mini-games during exploration of the virtual home and nearby surroundings simulates child care tasks; exceptional performance is praised and rewarded.
·    Using the Nintendo DS microphone and stylus, interact with your baby by talking to her, playing peek-a-boo, tickling him, and teaching her to speak.
·    Shoot scrap book photos of your baby or use them in an in-game baby beauty pageant.

wow, combine this and Nintendogs and you can have an entirely fake life! Gamers aren't making much headway towards defeating the "in your parent's basement" stereotype with this stuff...

I hope a massive wave of pre-teen pregnancies get blamed on this game.

@-PL-: People playing this game aren't doing that thing you have to do in order to become a pregnant teen so...no worries.

I'm sure the game will suck for anyone who isn't a kid, but at least someone was being marginally creative.

I know this type of game appeals for the tween demographic, but the realisticness about it makes it kind of creepy and not really "family-friendly."

Maybe I have a fucked up perspective on what family-friendly means.

Fun? Maybe not for the average gamer. But educational it is. I could see this as a great tool for a younger only/mid child or even a couple thinking of a new addition to the family. I have 2 kids about 2 years apart and I think they could benefit from this. If they were old enough to actually play games...lol

just my 2 cents though

Can I name my baby after you, CTZ?

Nevermind, I just realized that would require that I actually play this game...

I'm actually going to try this game.
Just to start a game of peekaboo, close the DS, and never open it again.
Man I'm evil. :D

I was reading this aloud to my friend and as soon as I read " Feed it, bathe it" I started speaking in the tone of the Daft Punk song, only to be graced by the amazingness of CTZ. My hat is off to you sir.
