Toss up is always having the fat coder who knows what he's talking about, or some hooker that is trying to put in her elementary school attitude (since that was the last time she used her brain) into the presentation in order to make it edgy and contemporary, but ends up looking like what we began with, a retarded hooker.

Jade's neither one of those two, and quite frankly, probably the best option out of all of em.

They cut off the your finger and install a 30 cm "hidden" dagger on your wrist for initiation, eh? If I were an organization obsessed with secrecy and hiding the identities of my members, I don't think I would disable them and mark them for life. It would be pretty easy as a bodyguard to keep all the 4-fingered weirdos in capes away from your mark, I think.

What's really interesting is that this game is based off the original assassins, who were originally called hashshashins. The reason for this is because the old man in the mountain (as he was sometimes called), Hassan-i Sabbah, used to convert followers to his secret society by giving them hash (one of the early forms of marijuana). Once they were drugged, he would take them to his secret garden in the mountain and keep feeding them hash. He would then request that they carry out secret missions to kill important political leaders.

Once people found out about this secret society, they named the killers "hashshashins" because of the way in which they were converted. People in the east understood hash, as it had been a part of their culture of thousands of years, but people in the west weren't as familiar with hash and its properties. The westerners converted the word "hashshashins" to its popular form today, "assassins". William Shakespeare actually was the believed to be the first to document the newly mutated word.

The west began to build content for hash because of these assassins. The westerners didn't understand it and therefore thought that they may kill someone if they smoked or ate hashish. This myth remained strong in the middle to upper social classes in the west, all the way up to the 1920's when an asshat by the name of Harry Anslinger watched his dad struggle to keep a job as black and hispanic immigrants continued to make their way to the United States and provide cheaper labor. With them, they brought marijuana, as it was the drug of choice for the lower classes.

Harry Anslinger took up a personal vendetta against weed for this reason and soon became head of what is now known as the DEA. He created a movie called "Reefer Madness" which was shown in schools across the United States and is now a cult classic among social pot smokers. In this subjective agenda-fueled movie, he claimed that marijuana would cause you to become "incurably insane" and even went so far as to make many believe that they would kill someone if they used it. That fear became a staple of that generation, causing each remaining generation to feel the affects of Harry Anslinger's propaganda.

Now here we are today, living in a world where marijuana is illegal (but it's getting better every generation). We pay billions of dollars in taxes every year to keep people in jail, who are there for enjoying something that humans have been enjoying since some of the first recorded cases dating back to 1100 b.c. Harry Anslinger even took his agenda world wide and caused many countries across the world to follow suit with making marijuana illegal, including many countries in the middle east.

Wonder why there is so much contentment in the world? It's because we all can't go out and smoke a joint.

Just when I think I can live without a next gen system, this game comes up again. Goddammit. PoP team is so awesome, and this game is so beautiful ;_;.

Two things: 1) The eagle thing with Altair's shadow is amazing. 2) Jade Raymond is awesome.

Tron, in all seriousness that's because these dev diaries focused solely on art direction and storyline. Earlier gameplay footage has revealed that this game will be a lot like a car chase, only with you using your body and the crowd rather than a car and a highway.

Recently gameplay highlighting combat also reveals that this game will use a much more advanced system than just hack and slashing. If Jade Raymond told me that Halo 3 was going to be good, I would probably believe her, but I think she may be right about this game.

Just wait for a demo and keep an open mind, I think you'll be surprised.

You're right though, the gameplay could make this game great. But as it stands now, this game hasn't got much going for it but the cute producer and good graphics.

Wow...the more I see of this game, the more I’m liking it. And @Tron Knotts: Frankly, I like the fact that they’re really going into the historical details and such, and that isn’t just because I’m a history buff in general. To me, it shows me that they’re really making an effort to produce the best game possible, and that means a lot.

They should just get it over with and make a Wii Jade Raymond dating sim. For the Wii, of course. You guys could virtua hug little Jade to your hearts contnet.

@Bronx and Haley- All the history talk says to me that they are more focused on world history than making a good game. I would agree with you if world history is a well known contributer to good games, but it's not.

Things that tell me that game's creators care about making a good game...

-Discussion of gameplay (game control, game flow, boss battles, unlockable or downloadable content, various weapons and abilities, various ways to win, to lose, move forward in the game, move backaward, etc, etc)

Things that make me feel lika game's creators don't care about making a good game...

-Discussion of anything else but gameplay (graphics, game setting, physics engines, story line, etc, etc)

There are a lot of people in the Western world making games and comics that really wish they were writing books, making movies, or tv shows. Those forms of media are considered "legit" in western culture, where comics and games are still considered to be for 40 year old virgins.

When people who aren't proud of the fact that they are making video games make video games, the games usually suck.

I'm looking at you Indigo Prophecy.
