Such a slow news day is this, we are reduced to talking about the announcement of My Friends for the Nintendo DS. Apparently designed for people who are unable to make friends of their own, My Friends allows you to create your own 3D character and then make pretend friends in a virtual world. They can never truly love you, but they can never truly harm you. The perfect friends indeed.
Just like in real life, the "friends" of My Friends are superficial and vapid entities who will befriend you based upon the kind of clothes you choose to wear. You'll also need to curry their favor by purchasing gifts, and there will be plenty of mini-games to play as well, most likely representing their shallow and uncomplicated interests. The more you play, the more clothes, gifts and locations you'll unlock.
My Friends teaches kids the importance of materialism and is due out in June. Hit the jump for a press release, if you really want to.
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, ENGLAND, April 30th, 2009: Oxygen Games are pleased to announce My Friends for the Nintendo DS™, a whole new world of playing!
Create your very own 3D character and then go and explore your new Friends World. Explore for gifts, snacks and surprises; unlock secrets and play mini-games. You can make new friends in the game with cool outfits and keep them happy by playing mini-games with them and giving them gifts! The happier your friends are, the more games, clothes, accessories and hairstyles you can unlock… you can even unlock new locations to go and explore and play games in! You can share gifts and friends with other Nintendo DS owners and also chat with up to three of them via DS Wireless Communications.
This summer, let My Friends take you to a whole new world of fun & games!
Make Friends, Play Games, Have Fun with My Friends, available for Nintendo DS™ in June 2009.

This game sounds so bad it might be good. Only if it's not open-ended, I'd like to see if there is a point in the game where you actually beat it. For instance: You just got your 3000th friend! You are the most popular boy in the world! Credits.
Make virtual friends by wearing different cloths and keep them happy by giving gifts and playing shitty minigames? This sounds EXACTLY like Dead Or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, only without the scantily clad bouncing tits to make it worthwhile.
That's so real life-ish , because , at leat mine IRL friends are arses that I actualy hate but I have to superficially laugh to have some social contact ...
