When I started writing this post, a flood of "playing with your balls" jokes entered my head. Luckily for you, dear reader, those jokes have been done to death in regards to the Katamari series and, as such, I refuse to burden you with such a cliché stab at humor.
Instead, I will only say please enjoy the above footage from the upcoming My Beautiful Katamari, and try to keep your hand out of your pants. It's unsanitary and you have no idea where that thing has been.
(Editor's Note: Possible alternate title: My Beautiful Katamari footage; I wanna dip my balls in it! -- Nex)
I have this months Gamepro right here in front of me so i'll type out the following cause it concerns this games price.
GP: Do you think the budget price point was a large reason for its success?
Namco:This is a Discussion we've had many times internally, and we believe that the Katamari series would have sold well, if it had released at full price.
That said, we certainly think help that the combination of price and gameplay was just right. But many of us do feel that the PS2 games should have been sold for full price
you better hope this is a XBLA release cause from the looks of it, they feel we should be paying alot more for it.
So I'll say this now. anything more than 40$ and I'm not touching it. Also this games coming out amongst the wallet pounding 4Q. Are you really going to pass up Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Heavenly Sword and every other big game coming this fall for the exact same game we played twice already?
The whole reason I picked up the first one was because it was $20. I'm very glad I did, but I felt kinda raped when they charged full price for the second. $60 bucks for a Katamari game just isn't worth it, sorry. Especially since it looks exactly like every other Katamari game out there.
Why is the King of Cosmos SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN?! Somehow, I don't feel that his intentionally annoying personality should be carried over as a gameplay element.
I wonder how long this game will stay exclusive to XBLA?
I'm a big fan of the first two games, so I have a small amount of hope that this one will be worth owning.
It all depends on the soundtrack, and the new levels.
Most of this looked straight out of the previous games except for the scene when the Katamari is big enough to roll continents. You could do that in We heart Katamari, but it didn't look quite as good as this.
If it comes to the PS2 or the Wii in six months or so, I'll buy it.
the 2nd game costed $30 when it first came out.
I remember it was that much because I was trying to pick between getting the first game for $20 or geting the 2nd game for 10 dollars more.
Seems kinda a little bit like way too similar to the last two games (which were goddamn amazing). Is this HARD-FUCKING-CORE enough for U.S XBOX gamers?
I'm infinitely less bummed about this (maybe) being a 360 exclusive now that I realise I already own it for the PS2. I mean, I expected the same, low-poly modelling style but the textures look exactly the same too.
Also, I saw Namibia get rolled up in that clip. The C of N are so gonna sue.
Yeah I see nothing here any different than the PS2 ones (which I own). No more than 30$, and I really wouldn't care unless it was on Wii, since it could be hella fun to control with that.
Cue the fanboys who now all of a sudden will turn their backs on the fun franschise that was once their exclusive. Gotta remember, kids, coming to a new system is going to bring in a new audience.
The beauty is it's simplicity, I'm actually pretty damn glad they didn't fuck with their already SUPER LUCKY JAPANESE OKAY style. I mean, that's what makes it Katamari right?
I've heard that what they saved in graphical upgrading, they put into bigger worlds and more objects - and anyone that's actually played a Katamari game understands the importance of that. The game is short that focusing more attention on crazy enviroments & fun is totally fine with me. I'm all for it - and if you're worried about the pricetag (as it seems most of you are) just wait till it's used and buy it then. That's what I did with the first two, best used games I've probably every bought.
I met Michael Showalter at Union Hall too actually, a few months ago. Doing his stand-up it was hilarious. He's just as akward in real life, thank god :)
