Software innovation alert! Hudson Entertainment has announced that it will be bringing My Aquarium -- "an all-new, original IP" -- to WiiWare.

Yes, it's a virtual aquarium, where you'll be able to choose from 40 fish and a variety of decorations that will make up your watery habitat. Exciting things like glass color, lighting, background design ... style of gravel ... rocks ... yeah. Players can have up to six aquariums, and will be able to send thank set-ups to friends using WiiConnect 24, provided their friends have also spent money on a fake aquarium.

I poke fun, My Aquarium does a few cool features, like connecting to the Wii's Forecast Channel which will change the conditions of your aquarium. You'll be able to interact with and feed your fish, but they'll likely never die, so feel free to sit back and neglect them. It's true that a number of aquarium software programs are available for PCs and the like, but at least it seems like Hudson are packing the game with features.

Hey, it's great to see the classic "burning log" VHS evolve.

I'm one of the morons who would buy one, even though I have a fish and fish tank, but it seems like it would be better suit for the PSP or DS.

I'm surprised the Wii is able to handle those kind of graphics without blowing up.

So if they can have an aquarium.. how about Seaman?
Can only imagine that creatures comeback to be spectacular, if it were to ever happen.

But this? C'mon Hudson (you guys make Bomberman for old times sakes!)

As silly as it might sound, i was hoping for an actual simulator. The video shows one fish in there and the guy is pouring in massive amounts of food. As a fish keeping hobbyist *and* and utter dork, I will probably end up paying for this, but I hope it doesn't lead to massive fish death in the real world. Then again, clueless moms buy goldfish and (shudder) bowls all the time...

CountingConflict is righ - there is a PS3 version of this called Aquatopia, on PSN. It's not as customizable, but it is in HD and it looks pretty.

"I hate Nintendo so very much.... so very much."

You do know that Nintendo doesn't make every single game on the Wii right? So what does Nintendo have to do with a Hudson aquarium WiiWare game? Nintendo didn't make Hudson make this game.

Poor Colette, more crappy titles heading her way.

@PEICanada7

They approved it, they could've said something like "Sorry, this is not the type of games we want Wiiware to be known for" but they didn't.
