Multiwinia trailer shows some intense stick figure warfare

Who would have thought that tiny, simplistic digital life forms could have such ferocious firefights? The above footage is showing off Domination, one of the six multiplayer modes in Introversion Software’s upcoming PC game Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest. Multiwinia is the multiplayer-based sequel to Introversion’s Darwinia, and focuses on series protagonists the Darwinians, who have split apart into different warring tribes after the events in the first game and are now referred to as Multiwinians.

The goal in Domination matches is for competing teams of Multiwinians to try and capture all the spawn points on a map. As the game progresses boxes will appear that contain either helpful or hurtful objects.

I have to say, I’m really digging the beautiful yet minimalistic environmental designs, along with the laser firing stick figures that populate them. I want to give the game a try RIGHT NOW, but it unfortunately doesn’t come out until September 19. I guess I’ll just have to keep myself entertained with the Darwinia demo until then.

I'm really keen to try it out. At the same time the whole premise of it is kind of a downer after saving the lil' fellas from the virus the previous game I finished last month.

They've gone and taken a big ol' low-poly dump on the world I fought so hard to save.

The trailer almost makes it sound too simple. But Darwinia was awesome so I'll have to give it a shot.

I loved Darwinia. I'm sure I'll love this.

By the way, both Darwinia and Multiwinia are coming to XBLA as Darwinia+: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/53478

I could never get into Darwinia for some reason :/, I'll probably give it another try before Multiwinia comes out.
