Might be nice to add to the news article
But I'm for it if it has a decent engine and accuracy. Lots of iron sights from video, not such a big fan of that...but i suppose its a period piece and unavoidable.
I think I left WWII behind with CoD2 and I'm not willing to go back just yet. I can't see it putting a dent into the BF3 and MW3 machine(s), but if I remember correctly, Red Orchestra has a fairly decent following.
Best of luck Tripwire, you probably would have had my moneys if not for releasing this game smack in the middle of an EA/Activision bitch fight. 2013 would be ideal for a decent PC FPS to really get a good foothold in the market. I'm afraid this will get overshadowed...hell, it already has.
RO2 isn't really competing with BF3 or MW3. It's a very different type of game. Sure, it's a shooter, but it's much more of a sim than an arcade-style shoot-em-up.
People who are looking for a change of pace from MW and BF should definitely check out RO2.
RO is not easy to get into at first, but the depth of the game keeps it appealing for a long time. There's always room to improve your skill in the game because of the higher skill curve, so if you find that you enjoy the game, you'll only enjoy it more as time goes on and you master the weapons, vehicles and classes. Also, despite being WW2, the gameplay is unique enough to make it stand out and the Eastern Front isn't explored very much in FPS games. (They're usually all urban Stalingrad/Berlin levels)
Personally, I'm replacing Battlefield 3 with RO2 because of the crap EA is pulling on the PC version. (Yes, I expect BF3 fans to come defend the game with the EXACT same arguments CoD fans used to defend MW2's matchmaking) "You don't need this." "This is actually better than that, you just don't know it yet." Etc, etc.
My mobo and CPU are a little dated, so I probably won't be able to play BF3 with it maxed out all the way on 1080p. RO2, runs great and it looks great on my machine.
I think this game will be a great hit. At first I was thinking BF3 was going to be great... (Not a fanboy or anything) I just thought it was going to be a good game. But now I totally agree with you... they are making it so complicated to enjoy the game... Its turning into a casual shooter which I never wanted. (Kill cam, CoD style gunplay, No community support)I think they just want money now instead of making a good game ):
Can't wait for this, Tripwire make very fun and accessible games and this should be no different.
