MTV gobbles up ScrewAttack ... sort of photo

Expanding their video game coverage, I just got sent a press release announcing that MTV has acquired exclusive programming rights to some of ScrewAttack.com's programming -- which is to be added to the GameTrailers lineup. Laguna Beach ScrewAttack ftw?

GameTrailers (GT), a division of Viacom Inc.’s (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B) MTV Networks, today announced the addition of ScrewAttack.com content to its expansive video programming lineup for gamers. ScrewAttack, the online producer of popular, game centric videos such as “The Angry Video Game Nerd” and “Video Game Vault,” will premier exclusive weekly shows on GT beginning Thursday, February 8.  GT delivers an expansive program offering that includes high-quality original editorial, a deep library of publisher-produced game trailers, robust user-generated content, and now - through the partnership with ScrewAttack - premium third party gaming content.

Don't worry Dtoid faithful, we've still managed to escape the vice-like grip of corporate America. Enjoy your independent gaming while you can. Check out the full press release and details after the jump.

    Santa Monica, Calif. (February 8, 2007) - GameTrailers (GT), a division of Viacom Inc.’s (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B) MTV Networks, today announced the addition of ScrewAttack.com content to its expansive video programming lineup for gamers. Finally, “The Angry Video Game Nerd,” already a favorite among gamers generating millions of video views across the Internet and is one of the most subscribed to authors on YouTube, launches his first installment on GT February 15.

@Dexter

Do you live in Fantasy Land? If so I want to talk to you about some fabulous beach front property that I've been looking to get rid of.

Oh well another one bites dust.

On the positive side, maybe they will have decent resolution videos now. Wait, why would I want to see the Angry Video Game Nerd in high res?

Anyway, hopefully they'll keep doing the Angry Video Game Nerd bits. I love those.

Yeah I watched one episode of it. They are trying to hard to be like a funny ripoff of a feel-good sitcom. Doesn't work.

Whoa whoa whoa- talk about sensationalism. ScrewAttack has not been "acquired" at all. We're just going to be providing GT with some of our kick ass-ness. We're still lil' ol' ScrewAttack.

well, maybe it won't suck, I mean, look at Xfire.
(for those not cultured in PC gaming, it's an IM that keeps track of servers, and logs your hours of play). I mean, Xfire is the basic communication tool between PC gamers. The only thing that Xfire may have had an effecton though, may be the 1 ad on top of the Xfire window. Keep in mind that it's just 1, and most ads are related to video games. Well, point is MTV doesn't always screw up things (except IQs).
