The rumors about Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 have refused to die, and just yesterday they had been reignited with gusto. In the wake of fresh speculation, Xbox Live VP John Schappert has expressed that he would love to see Guns of the Patriots on his platform, and has confidently declared that the 360 can handle its demands.
“I’m certainly in the fan club that would love to see Kojima-san’s masterpiece come our way. It would be wonderful to play Metal Gear Solid on the Xbox. It could become another of the many franchises that started their life on another console that are now coming our way.
“I can’t speak on behalf of Konami, but I can shed more light on the fact that we definitely have the power to run MGS4.
"There are a lot of recent examples that are in true high-def on our platform and aren’t on PS3. We’ve got an amazing amount of horsepower and graphics power.”
A common argument concerning MGS4 on the 360 is the declaration that the game is too big to fit on a single DVD. Because of course, switching discs is such a ridiculous hardship. With a few tricks, it is surely possible to get MGS4 on the 360, and it's no great stretch to imagine that Konami is heavily considering it.
The 360 can likely handle it, even though the machine itself sometimes can't handle being switched on.

Would I feel dirty? Absolutely.
So probably next spring?
Let's just hope the 360 owners won't be in the situation where they have to put up with broken-ass online gaming, fucking MGO.
WHY?! Why would you feel dirty? {facepalm}
Why does it possibly matter what box a game is played on as long as you play and enjoy the game?!
boy. I feel illuminated.
I wonder what examples he's talking about besides GTA4.
Trash talking aside, I'm sure the 360 can handle MGS. It'd be nice to see some... classier titles on the red-ring-of-death-box. About as nice as it'd be to just see any titles on the bluray player with incidental game support.
Sure, swapping out 3.5 inch floppies isn't that big of a deal, but wouldn't you just rather only have to load one CD-ROM?
Would you rather have to flip over your laser disc, or just load your DVD once and forget about it?
The bottom line is this: Disc space *is* a limiting factor on the X360, and will only get worse as games get more complicated.
It was wonderful when I played it on my PS3.
Does anybody not remember the install screens? Throughout the game there would be a good wait while the game reinstalls a new chapter or whatever to the hard drive, and this would take much longer that the time to hit 'eject', grab the disk, and shove in a new one.
If the purpose of defying disk-swapping is to save time or energy, then we have yet to see this principle held up if MGS4 is the commonly turned-to example of this advantage.
Swapping disks is NOT a pain - waiting for install processes is. I buy the game, I play it. Every moment I'm not playing it because of an install makes the PS3 or Xbox much closer to a PC.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Completely linear, broken up repeatedly by acts and chapters. There wouldn't be a break in 'flow' by switching disks any more than there is now when the screen goes white. And it's not like MGS4 doesn't break the 4th wall ever.
If something like GTA4 required multiple disks, well. That's a different story. If I have to shove in a disk based on which island I am on, I will be frustrated fast.
But I'm not! I'm not, because I didn't have to in EITHER platform!
Miracle! No, wait... Science!
The installations between chapters was painful, as my brother was playing a different chapter. Everytime we switched, the guy started smoking..
I feel the same way about people who passionately love the Backstreet Boys but hate N'Sync, or love Guitar Hero but hate Rock Band. I mean really, what's the difference people?
Have you forgot how faulty the 360 DVD drives are? Do you seriously want to put any more strain on them at all? I prefur the 3 minute installs because they're easier on the system overall, plus they give you good opportunities to do things like use the bathroom or get some food.
The install times bother you? Go make a friggin sandwich.
Also... this MGS4-360 rumor needs to die, its getting rediculous to the level of the FF7 Remake rumor. I've said for a long time the 360-MGS4 isnt going to happen simply because it isnt a worthwhile investment for Konami.
"you have to change the disc now Snake - Oh wait! we're playing this on a PS3 blu-ray disc - no need for a second disc. How times have changed, huh Snake?"
Now it will say:
"you have to change the disc now Snake - these 360s are kinda crappy"
"It could become another of the many franchises that started their life on another console that are now coming our way" Really reads: We like sloppy seconds!
They need to STOP shoving blank cheques at 3rd party developers in an attempt to steal PS3 exclusives or "promises" of exclusive DLC and START focusing on internal development and work on new relations/IP's with 2nd party devs.
In every console generation, it's the first party titles that define the system.
Like I said, I'd love to see MGS4 on the 360, but honestly, who would you believe?
True high def? There are very few console games this gen that are true high def. I can think of about 3: Everyday Shooter, Pixel Junk Eden, and Wipeout HD are the only games that I know are 1080p, 60fps NOT upscaled.
Anyway, MGS4 on the 360 would just be a smart move for Konami and honestly I don't know why they wouldn't do it. You limit your income by millions and millions by staying exclusive to one console. Honestly I'll be surprised if they don't do it.
either you Fecking make it or get the Feck off my nuts
FECK!
