I bought it day one, yesterday's patch finally made it possible to get me to the first level without the game crashing.
Also Avast detects the map editor as a virus/trojan.

I missed the review but checked the comments now on that thread and I must say, while doing this is pretty childish from Luc the "community" response was just shit. Didn't make me feel too warm inside about the kinds of people around this site. The posts and the DToid team still rocks though.
I love character removals. I hope patches are released to remove Star Wars characters from Soul Calibur IV and Sonic and Snake from Melee. Take that loyal customers!
Apparently, this whole situation can be explained by the fact that people always want to be with the winning side.And the one who criticises seems always to be winning, rather than the one who is being criticised and tries to defend himself, using invalid arguments out of desperation.
This whole mess is disappointing. I wish it honestly never had happened, but there's no going back. I do feel as though some community members way overstepped their bounds and went from just being "edgy" to being full-blown trolls, much like the GameFAQs community they so desperately hate.
Maybe this will be a wake-up call for everyone involved. I doubt it severely, but I can always hope.
As for Luc removing the robot, let him. Not like we need to be associated with the game anyways. It's sour grapes, perhaps, but it's not the end of the world.

Somehow I'm not surprised this happened. His game may have sucked a bit, but we didn't need to go all /v on him. ANYTHING is better than the /v treatment.
Not the most mature reaction, but then again, neither was people telling Luc to go fuck himself after he made some poorly considered statements regarding the review. Sometime it pays to be the bigger man. No matter how justified one's anger with Luc may or may not be, the Destructoid community still comes out looking like a bunch of childish assholes to the rest of the net. How this site hasn't ended up with an ED article by now is beyond me.

He was pretty bitter about reviews that weren't written yet and complained about reviewers in general. (Unless I'm remembering it incorrectly)

The Kotaku review actually IS unprofessional if you ask me. They almost managed to turn a negative review into a blowjob piece. Not to mention the ridiculous number of times they copied directly from the luc bernard talking points memo. In fact, if the usual low quality of writing on Kotaku weren't lightyears ahead of luc I'd have thought he'd written the thing himself.

Is this childish? Yes. Is this for the best? Yes. Dtoid shouldn't be associated with such a crap game. And if you really care about the cameo, just look at that header image: there he is, get a good look. You didn't even have to buy the game for that.
Also, regardless of what users do or don't do, Destructoid is going to be hated on by some people on the web for being "childish" and a "frat party environment," so I say stop trying to change the opinions of people who don't really care about the facts. It's not going to work any better than changing the opinions of people who hate on violent video games.

Honestly, if I made a game, and all of you guys were really pumped, but then shit all over it, I'd probably be bitter too. I'd release a patch that "fixes" the game, and Mr. D would magically disappear.
Clearly, he no longer loves us. Mr. Dtoid represents the site, and by extension, the community. Yanking him is a fitting end to the relationship, like when a couple gives their crap back to each other after they break up.

I understand the venom directed at the game, but to me, Luc's comments seemed totally reasonable, if obviously desperate. As someone who creates things of my own, I know very well that it can be tough to have people acting like a bunch of cock-holes when you present them something you feel you worked hard on. It's a fear that pretty-much keeps me from doing anything at all these days. Yeah, I'm a pussy. Anyway, the point is, this guy was just getting defensive about something he felt strongly about, and if these people weren't itching at the chance to fuck with someone from behind the safety that the anonymity of the internet provides, they'd note that it's an entirely human reaction, and they'd cut him some fucking slack for it. That's not to say that they need to be all chummy with the guy, or to pretend like his game is any good, but telling him to fuck himself sure aint all that mature.

So it's perfectly okay for Destructoid to use their media platform to comment on Luc's work, but it's not okay for him to use his media platform to comment on theirs.
