video game related movie news out of Cannes, as word from
Variety is that a film based on the SNK Playmore title,
King of Fighters, is readying to film in Hong Kong early next year. Flashes of the
Street Fighter film, but there's definitely some hope for this one.
The Engligh-language film will be directed by Gordan Chan, the man responsible behind (arguably) one of Jet Li's best films, Fist of Legend. The script is being penned by Chris Chow, whose only other writing credit includes another Li picture, Fearless. Who knows where Chow is finding the time, him being so busy being a "camera trainee" on the soon-to-be comedy classic, Christmas in Wonderland.
No word on which of the series' 367 fighters the movie will focus on, but if none of the Metal Slug characters are involved, I'll wait for the DVD.
shitty movie night confirmed!
I'm just interesting in knowing who is playing Mai.

Please dear god please... be better then the DoA movie. A good movie based off a video game, is that so hard to ask?
@Kalakaua
Yes. Yes it is.
They should have hired the people who did the Fatal Fury anime movies and rolled with that. Oh well, at least it might be decent HK action and not some halfassed hollywood train wreck. Joaquin Phoenix would have made a bad ass Iori though.
Big fan of KOF. They better not fuck it up!
A King of Fighters movie? Honestly?
Here's hoping it follows the original plot arc so the movie world can understand the true power of Rugal!
The fuck?
A tv series would be better. How the hell do they hope to be able to tell a story in 90 minutes? There's so many characters, that someone is bound to be pissed off that their favorite one didn't get enough, or any screen time at all.
A Samamuri(sp?) Showdown movie would be better if you ask me.
Hong Kong has tried movie attempts with fighting games. 1) Street Fighter and Future Cops. 2) Avenging Fist with Tekken...
In a word, they better not f this up.
As for someone who can play Mai, I nominate one of those import models from car magazines, not like you are gonna pay attention to her acting...I nominate Francine Dee.
