It's gonna be weird and quirky just like you imagined. Miike is good but highly overrated. He does weird and quirky very well, but that's all he does
@dtomek- you are incorrect. Miike's filmography covers every genre, and the best of his films are his deadly serious ones (Audition, 13 Assassins, Demon Yakuza, Graveyard Of Honor) so there :-P
It's good to hear that the film isn't bad, but I don't want to risk tarnishing my image of the game. The game got the story across so perfectly I'm not sure if I feel the need to see it again in movie form. Maybe one day if I see it on DVD I'll pick it up.
I saw it at the Asian Film Festival of Dallas on Thursday and it was really good. It's been my favorite movie of the festival so far anyways.
Hey I just got off the phone with some company called Zergnet.com, they were looking for a "Mr. Destructoid". They gave me the third degree, wanting to know where they could find him. Something about demanding their businesses model back...
@Raby you realize Flixist is a sister site of destructoid and covers movies and stuff right? this is a movie based on a game so it makes sense for a game site to link you to their movie site about it...

I saw this at NYAFF. I am a huge huge fan of the games, so it was hard not to love it. All the same, it did drag a bit towards the end. Still the only good video game movie I've ever seen.
