MotoGP '08 for the Wii is coming soon photo

Capcom just announced that MotoGP ’08 for the Wii ships next Tuesday, March 24. According to the little blurb we received with the release information, you can look forward to controlling the motorcycles in the game with the Wii remote -- just like ExciteTrucks, except without trucks and the make-believe physics.

Way back in the day, I’m guessing around 2002, I played the hell out of MotoGP because a demo of the game came packaged with the first Xbox Live Starter Kit. Whenever I started losing a race (never took long) I would turn my bike around and begin driving backwards on the track. The collisions with the winning racers were awesome to behold, but the best part was hearing the racers’ screams of fury because I just tossed their chance of placing well.

I guess, in a small way, I shaped the landscape of grieving on Xbox Live. Thanks, MotoGP. I’ll never forget you.

Anyway, in addition to crazy controls, you can look forward to all the staples of MotoGP including a variety of bike classes to choose from, a deep campaign mode, and tarmac based on real tarmac. (Indianapolis was added this year. Go Indiana!)

Ooops, hit enter too soon. I saw this game in action at WonderCon, thought it was already out. Anyway, it really looks like a N64 game.

Oh, yeah. Brad's notorious for his love of the Wii. There would never, never, never be ANY chance that's he'd use Photoshop to make the screenshot look worse than it really is. No, never! Didn't you know that he graduated from the Robert Summa School of Nintendo Love?

I'm sure that the picture is 100% authentic.

Now, excuse me while I wipe the sarcasm off my keyboard.

@DonHonk - Aye. Just for clarification, that's totally fake. If I went completely over-the-top with the pixelation, you guys probably wouldn't be able to tell if it was a racing game or a parfait.

Meh. Not utterly impressed. The graphics look inconsistent. Some areas are nice and smooth; others suffer from major jaggies.

Hamza wins again (as usual.)

Please note that this MotoGP game has nothing to do with the MotoGP game mentioned in the post, as the original Xbox MotoGP game(s?) were developed by Climax, now Black Rock of Pure & Split/Second fame and were actually good, I'm told.

This also has nothing to do with the rather crappy MotoGP games currently out for PC and other current-gen consoles. Those are developed by Milestone.

This game also has no relation to the earlier PS2 MotoGP games (up to MotoGP 4) which were developed by Namco.

It probably has relation to the last PS2 MotoGP game which was developed by Capcom like this one.

Yeah it's a mess anda all the games are named MotoGP-something. MotoGP fans have it bad...
