I gotta admit that I find the Nintendo bashing kind of humorous, but turning around an posting this makes me think: who cares? Seriously, besides Sony stockholders? Is someone going to get a blue ribbon for this? I like to play games, not consoles.

Gosh, those extra 95,000 units Sony sold will sure make a big dent in those number.

You fail to mention the other side of the story. Who cares if it was the fastest selling? I believe the US had 400,000 PS3 at launch and it pretty much sold out. Or do i remember incorrectly?

so the US launch outsold the European launch. The fact that the PS3 is not sold out in Europe is a big problem. It is all about supply and demand. Nintendo just hit there 6 million mark and the wii is sold out everywhere. So 160,000 people bought a PS3 in Europe, there are still stores putting up signs saying "we have 73 PS3s left, buy one before we are sold out." Is it just me or is that bad?

They should never have to push as hard as they are to sell a launching console, every store in Europe has signs begging the customers to buy it, and yet it is not sold out. The way I see it, the launch failed and the PS3 sales continue to suck. It may have sold more than past instances but you have to look at the competition TODAY. The Wii is selling like hotcakes, and the PS3 is sitting in stores and collecting dust.

This is all just because the UK likes to live!!!!

Blackdove- I've got 600 bucks earmarked for a ps3. I wait until a system has 3 games I want to play before I buy it. I'm still waiting and I'm not jealous of a damn thing. Resistance looks ok, I'll probably play it for a weekend, then go back to Gears.
And you don't think it's fair to compare the ps3 because it's got a higher price point? I'm sure Sony doesn't either. In reality, a cheaper product that does a comparable task will always win in any technological arms race.
I think the gaming industry is best off with three competitors, so I'm in no hurry to give Sony a send off, but I'm concerned that they pushed their better talent away from SCEA and toward their hdtv marketing branch. The Bravia commercials are great and omnipresent, while the ps3 commercials are the subject of ridicule.

I remember the Dreamcast was the fastest selling console in the US when it launched. That worked out so well for them!

Well almost every console sells out at launch becuse the hardcore fanboys wanting it. But the PS3 sales will drop like a rock. Hey when is the next huge shipment of wii's world wide going to happen again? Anybody have any dates?
