Behold, the newest video for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. This new clip shows off some good old fashioned finishing moves, as The Green Lantern, Raiden and The Flash perform their Fatalities -- or rather, in the case of the DC superheroes, their Heroic Brutalities.

As you might expect, the violence is toned down from previous Mortal Kombat games, but they're still pretty neat. The lack of gore should help to encourage more creative finishers, and if they're all as cool as The Flash's, then I'll be satisifed despite the reduced blood levels.

10 to 1 odds says DC/Warner made Midway put the "heroic" in front of Brutality.

Eh. I don't like the new fatalities... I actually find them to be less creative than what I would imagine a violent one to be.

This game "looks" cool, but so have the other MK's. They inevitably suck. Why? Because Midway, despite sticking it to the man throughout the 90's and making games they believed to be awesome and fun, have now catered to an audience.

They need to stop and start thinking outside the box like they used to.

Heh, for some reason it strikes me as being more fun to jump on Youtube and watch Mortal Kombat fatalities than actually playing any of the games.

@Demtor
I know exactly what you mean. The only reason this game is relevant to my interests is thanks to the DC side of things.

"Heroic Brutality" sounds stupid and oxymoronic, but yeah The Flash's was neato. Personally I think they should have kept the kreate-a-fatality from MK Armageddon, just maybe leave out the really bloody bits, because seeing the look on a dude's face after you just pulled a 11 hit fatality out on him was PRICELESS.

Those were some bland finishing moves. It looks pretty but MK needs strong fatalities/brutalities.

Meh, The Flash's fatality wasn't that great. He does more brutal things in the cartoon. Like punching through lex luthor's chest with some super speed punch (no blood), running so fast he turns into a beam of energy and punches brainiac or when luthor gets inside his head and threatens to vibrate his fingers so fast he'll be able to jam them in someone's brain and kill them.

That Flash brutality was rubbish. Why not have him start hitting the opponent from multiple sides at once, while the dazed opponent tries to defend himself and fails miserably. Even if they had the flash drag him off screen and then bring him back with postage stamps (from around the world none the less) covering him completely would have been more interesting, although that isn't exactly a brutality.

@kev

really man? I couldn't stand those kreate-a-fatalities from armageddon.
The whole novelty of Mortal Kombat for me has always been, like Demtor said, just sitting back and watching some really creative and fucking brutal fatalities just happen.
I didn't like having to anxiously sweat and mash buttons AS the fatality was happening. It was a whole lot sweeter when you would just input some quick button presses and watch shit like Smoke drop a bunch of bombs and blow up the entire fuckin planet, or Kano rip someones fucking skeleton out of their mouth.

But thats just me.

yeah these fatalities are pretty boring. if they don't want to get gory, they should look for inspiration from some of the special moves from marvel vs. capcom 2. they were more exciting and not bloody at all.

Green Lantern's Brutality Looks Nice, but the rest i thnk are too "soft" for a MK, and im still sad for the change of Joker's fatality :S I've seen the new one and now he just launch cards to the opponent till dead

I never thought I would say that about a video game, because I normally don't care at all. I really miss the blood in this one.

agreed with flashes finisher being weaksauce, he should have like run around the world, and have the cinimatic end in a slow-mo bone crunching punch to the face/closeline, or just grab him & run so fast that the air-friction rips off the guys skin, then muscles etc.
