that button layout looks..... uncomfortable, I like the look of the stick though. (oh gawd double entendre!)
Oh man, I remember the cramps I used to get using that button layout. It was always fun to visit an arcade and see the Mortal Kombat control boards being salvaged for other games like Street Fighter II.

I would love to own that puppy... but you reminded me how frustrating the original MK's are. The AI auto-counters everything but the most finely-tuned spam attacks, and then I rage-quit.
I'm on the fence with this. I know a lot of my retro games would work, but like Nick said its mainly for MK. While I do want the classic arcade pack and do own 9, I just don't know Dammit.
Lol the 90s I was eight at the end of them. So nope don't remember going to them... hahahah nick is old

Yeah, but that was only 4 buttons. Whoever designed the MK button layout just took a big old hit of his crack pipe and made the dice layout of 5.
Then MK3 pointlessly (bar the hilarious noise they make) added a run button that was positioned by playing "pin the button on the arcade". God I hate that layout, SO MUCH.

LOL at the run button comment. I remember seeing that for the first time and thinking "huh?".
THANK YOU for the review Nick, your info has actually resigned me to look for a Tournament edition online. I did actually want this stick more just for the retro love and DLC code, but I just have to have the super-cool tilt-open cabinet as I think that's a great design.
And on another note, if it turns out I can use my new stick with my downloaded classics like Dig-Dug and Kaboom, I'll be in heaven! Thanks again!

Don't worry Nick, I'm old enough to remember playing this in my local donut shop over summer holiday from grade school... Spending summers inside of the arcades at canada's wonderland just emptying my allowance into the machines...
This is a pretty sweet luxury item for those with disposibale incomes, but I've fallen to enough nostalgia when SFIV came out, got myself a TE Edition and a normal fighstick... now all's I need is to acutally use em!
Can't wait for MK9 to come out with it's "Flawless Victory" version that has all the DLC fighters and costumes... would be sweet if they bundled it with the klassic kombo too.

Huh funny seeing as I just beat mk9's story mode this morning. That last battle is a pain in the ass, by the way. Ugh. If I had that much extra money lying around, I would consider it, but I'm content just using my DS3
The stick looks cool but it's a pity that the downloadable game is so bad - it has the same old graphics, awful sound - not a single addition has been made to make it new and interesting. Which is a shame considering we're talking about a game that lets you rip your enemy's spine off.
