As revealed at E3, Valve is planning to show Xbox Live Arcade some love with Portal: Still Alive. According to the company's Doug Lombardi, however, this could pave the way for even more Valve on your XBLA.
"It's designed to give Xbox 360 gamers the chance to get Portal, for those who didn't want to go through the Orange Box. It's Portal, the game we all played and loved last year, plus 10-20 new challenges that you'll unlock," explained Lombardi. These extra challenges will be a timed exclusive, which Microsoft will be able to snorgle for the rest of 2008.
Lombardi was asked whether we could see more Vavle on XBLA in the future and had this to say: "We'll certainly consider it. If you look at what we've done on Steam, we try to make all our games available and we're always reviewing the prices to keep them current. We'd love to do that, but Portal: Still Alive is our first step at doing that beyond the PC."
Could we see Counter-Strike on XBLA? Will it be a viable way to bring Episode Three to consoles? All these questions and more ... may or may not be answered. One day. Maybe.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
20G - OMGWTFBBQ - Ragequit
Spawn
Buy weapons
run 20 yards
get shot
wait 5 minutes for the next round
All the while listening to some obnoxious pre-pubescent little shit slagging off anyone in earshot and generally displaying exactly why some people shouldn't be allowed to use a mic.
...no..... NOOOOOOOOOOO *crying*
@ Charl
And there is the required PC elitist comment.
You obviously can't see the fun of CS because your dying. But picture the other guy.
Spawn
pull out knife (ask everyone about mac)
run 2000 yards
knife everyone
wait for the next round
get accused of using maphacks and aimbots
get kicked off the server
I'm not saying yer a noob, but CS online is competitive like no other. It's the same if you logged on to korean battle net to play starcraft. You're going to lose most of time unless your just as much of a practised pro.
As for the prepubescent racist twats online, that is nothing new to XboxLive
I'm looking forward to the achievements names!

LOL, it's an FPS, dude. If the kiddies can handle tactical shooters, then they can handle Counterstrike. Don't be a PC elitist fag.
More Valve is always good. (TF2 console patch, plz.)
Like what? Vegas? /snicker
As for other games? Bring 'em on.
I was just poking fun really. I've played far too many games for far too long to not be able to at least hold my own in anything that's thrown at me. Except fighters, I get owned HARD at DoA4 online.
I just don't really enjoy the run & gun gameplay any more, I prefer something a little slower paced and more tactical. I always preferred DoD over CS anyway.
You're also not going to see a major Valve release like ep3 on XBLA unless consoles move in a direction more supporting of digital distribution. Even for PC games, where digital distribution is closing in on full half of sales by Valve's statements Valve still released ep2, TF2, and Portal in a retail packages, and then later individual packages (at least for TF2 and Portal). ep3 is WAY too big to be an Arcade title.
Or stuff like Ghost Recon which is pretty damn tactical.
But hey you keep being an elitist little shit and act all superior. You're in good company with charlz over there, why don't you butt buddies start a group on how inferior people play on XBL are?
Don't see why people are so against the idea of CS on console, its happened before you know, Counterstrike came out for the regular xbox a few years ago.
I could care less about CS but Portal I want, its the only thing I liked about the overrated box.
It is only 6GB with the source engine. If you had HL"/Ep 1 installed it was more like 1-2GB. Still too big for XBLA. How big was Shivering Isles? Maybe they could do the download as an expansion for those with The Orange Box?
Actually Valve releases all of their games seperately on Steam first, not retail.
Okay, maybe not Arcade, but Oblivion and Samurai Warriors have both had full game extensions released on Xbox Live. I fail to see why Valve wouldn't consider it for Episode 3. In fact, it makes perfect sense.
