There's no doubt that Uncharted 2's multiplayer modes are popular, but are more people playing competitive or cooperative modes? According to Naughty Dog president Evan Wells, the split is about half and half, and because of this, they won't be ignoring the latter when it comes to DLC.
"The objective-style co-op that we have where we have those little narrative moments," he tells G4, "it's something that we are considering and we'd really like to do, but it's a much, much bigger investment of time because we have to do a lot of motion capture with the actors and record a lot of voices."
Note that this doesn't confirm co-op DLC in the future, but they're listening.
"So we would absolutely want [sic] make sure that we talk to our community," he continues, "and make sure there was the proper demand for it."
So is there a demand for it? As someone who digs Uncharted 2's online modes, but admittedly isn't that great at competitive game types, I'm all for it. I might even consider paying for it... with money!
Reaction Time: Naughty Dog's Evan Wells Reflects on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves [G4]
Umm... Since when?
Game designers have been scaling back graphics for split-screen modes since the dawn of time (which is why games always look better when you're the only person playing on your TV). The only reason ND didn't add the feature was because they made the decision not to.
Split-screen... what is this 1998? how about full fucking screen, it was okay back then but now its just plain stupid.
I have WAY more fun playing with my friends in the same room than I do over the net. It's not even comparable, and it's certainly not stupid.
yeah right, cause using 2 televisions and 2 ps3's to enjoy a game with someone in your living room is soooooooooo 2009. Fucktard:)
how many do you need for a game? 4001? Just cause there's not a million people playing it like cod does not mean there's not a good thriving community:)
That number that you see at the bottom of the screen when you play online doesn't represent the total amount of players playing Uncharted 2 globally. Only the amount of players online in your local area. I don't know why Naughty Dog didn't put the total amount of players online in the world as it is obviously confusing to some people.
The biggest problem with gaming these days is so many 'co-op' games don't have split-screen support. Not everyone can find friends who have PS3s, a copy of the same game, and a decent internet connection.
Plus, considering we're finally at a time where big ass TVs are affordable... seriously, how was it 'okay' back in the day when screens were often no bigger than the size of a computer monitor, but now that we have screens the size of walls, it's forbidden?
If you don't like it, don't use it. For a lot of us, split-screen options will remain a huge selling point. There's a reason I've gone through Resistance's co-op campaign 10+ times - a game is always more fun when your playing with friends around you. Hell, I might have even enjoyed Killzone 2 if it had local co-op player.
do you have a link to confirm this? I've heard this before but I've never seen anything from ND stating this.
Hear that, Naughty Dog? You want my money, co-op is the way.
