As a father of two, this kind of shit makes me sick. I think people who neglect they're children should be shot in both knees with a musket rifle. And then rock salt should be poured in the wound.

How come liking a violent video game is glorifying violence, but liking a violent movie isn't? So you control a game, but watch a movie, but if you're getting amusement from a watching a violent scene in a movie. Isn't that just as disturbing? No one can shoot someone with a controller pad, ya know? I think the BIG problem is the weird GAME. Until we stop calling them video games. Will never get rid of this kids and violence stigma. I think we should officially change the name of video games to video simulators. Lets test it out.

Okay, I can understand one child. Accidental pregnancy, it happens. Unless they were twins, two children usually means planned parenting. Even if it's one child, someone should care for it.

Though I don't think there was too much parenting actually going on, judging from their room conditions and the fact that they left their children to wander around a motel. They barely look suitable enough to work, much less be trusted to even handle a kid for a few days.

I hate how the media will blow up anything that has the even remotest chance of being video game related. The parents could have gone out to gamble all of their money away (if they even have any) and everyone would have scolded the parents for having a gambling addiction, not the casino or group of people they play with. But since they went out to 'play video games at a friends house', it's automatically the video game industries fault, not the fact that the parents probably dropped out at grade 8.

what the hell are you guys complaining about? its obvious games are to blame here! it cant have anything to do with the US-economy being so bad that these parents don't have jobs, or that the housingmarket is so messed up that the family has to live in a motel, its not even the fault of the 'parents' who obviously have a huge amount of responsibilityfeelings, no the ones to blame here are rockstar and their colleagues for making games...

I kinda agree with shit-polka (great name, by the way). I come to Dtoid to get AWAY from all this bullshit and to talk about games, not to talk about idiotic assholes who use games as scapegoats. I guess this is the price you pay for the release of a new GTA game.

Hopefully this "controversy" will die down when the media changes their focus to the next celebrity crotch shot and/or rehab story.
