A lot of you really liked the Halo: Reach beta. In fact, more people played the Reach beta on day one than the entirety of Halo 3's beta period. Just the first week alone saw 14 million games played with over 157 million kills committed. That's a total of 29 years of game time, folks.

This is the final week of the Halo: Reach beta and the last gametype is now available. My boys at Machinima give you a basic overview of the new modes in the video above. Let me just saw that Generator Defense is extremely boring with the three vs. three limit and that Invasion is only fun if you're playing with friends.

What do you all think of Generator Defense and Invasion?

I loved the beta....for a week, then I got bored. I played too much Halo 3 and this just felt the same.

I played the Halo 3 Beta. Just so I could shit-talk Gaylo though. Oh and Crackdown was an amazing game.

I had a pretty good time with it. Reminded me why I enjoy the Halo games: always a fun time, without a big time commitment.

I just picked up ODST and I didn't know this was the last week so I'll have to jump on and see what all the hubub is about.

Thanks! (for the deadline heads up) :)

To be fair to Halo 3, the 360 had a much smaller install base at the time... ha

Loved the game, but the beta itself bored me to tears. Just not enough variety.

Invasion is just team deathmatch. My friend was trying hard to convince me it was more than that. Halo makes people say stupid things.

This does make sense. Halo 3, while ridiculously popular, gave the Halo universe more fans. Obviously those fans wanted in on Reach, so they bought ODST.

Jawshoeuh is right. Also, the beta came with Crackdown, and I'm assuming that a lot of people weren't going to buy some random game just so they could play the halo 3 beta. I know a lot of people DID do that, but still. Also, consider the fact that many people already had ODST since it was a halo game. The beta was just an added bonus.

Sorry for crappy grammar; I'm on my iPod.

Didn't buy crackdown.

Bought ODST. It sucked. Bad.

Decided to try out Reach to see if it was worth buying. It isn't.

I haven't had too much time to play the beta but from the short time I've spent on it I can say I really like it.

Shame about the hit box issue, got aim higher for those head shots I guess.
I also really like Slay Invasion, and Generator defence seems abit plain with 3v3 but I guess its all for the test.

Oh and it's popular to hate halo again is it? Great.

Sure, it's team deathmatch, in that there are two teams fighting a match to the death. But it's also objective-based and (somewhat) class-based, so there's a bit more to it than you're letting on.

I'm not saying it's a beautiful, unique snowflake (dozens of games have similar modes), but it's got a lot more going on than your standard team slayer.

This is most likely due to the fact that more people bought Halo 3: ODST than Crackdown.

I've been having a good time, despite being a bit burnt out on Halo online play from 3. Only complaint I have was the low map count, but it -is- just a beta, after all.

The Halo Reach Beta sucked balls. I had a 2.23 K/D ratio after forty games and still came to this conclusion.

I've definitely enjoyed the beta (even the lop-sided invasion mode), and would cheerfully disagree about the player limit in the generator defense playlist.

Most of my time with it was with friends, which'll make anything more fun, but I'm still surprised that despite all these new elements thrown in, it feels balanced.

Personalty I really enjoy generator defense, mainly because its typical for my group of friends to be three at a time. As we were serious game players for a long time, we now all have jobs ( get older, get more responsibility's). So for us its great, but I can understand how one may not like it.
The frantic dash from one generator to the next is good IMHO. It keeps pace up. As far as invasion, if we are lucky enough to have 4 or more of us online at once, rarely did it put us on the same team so I was very disappointed by that. The concept however is fantastic. Reach beta rules! Sad to see it end but Red Dead Redemption is out now and my interest in the beta has waned.

I think the statistic is kinda unimportant, myself. As has been mentioned, more people played the Reach beta

A) because there are more Xboxes around now

B) because it required having Halo ODST, a game Halo fans would already buy, instead of Crackdown, which required players to take the risk of buying a game they don't like, just for the Beta.

and
C) because it changed a lot more in the series than Halo 3, beta or otherwise, did.

I'm not a Halo fan, but the beta wasn't too bad, at least the bit I played of it. Didn't much like invasion, though. Not terribly balanced, from what I could see. Also, the whole thing's a bit shallow, but it's a beta, so that's forgivable. Hopefully, we'll see Reach actually be an excellent game.

Glad I'm not the only person that's noticed.

Am I the only person who doesn't think Elites are over-powered? 'Cause the totally aren't. And I wish Generator Defense wasn't as laggy as it is. I've got a lot of things I dislike about Reach, but way more things I love. It takes more skill, and I'm way happy about that.

If you played "Invasion Slayer" I could see why you'd say that. But "Invasion" is a much different gametype, in which objectives are the only important things and kills don't (directly) contribute to winning and losing.

INVASION is a blast....once you udnerstand what the hell you are supposed to do.

Claim the territory people....and get a WEAPON Spawn.

Alot of players don't realize that and just walk away after claiming the territory....leaving that brand new TANK, plasma grenade launcher, or ghost to be picked up by me :)

Very similar to RUSH Mode in Battlefield: BC2.....which is a VERY good thing.

i'm not very impressed at all with halo reachs multiplayer in my eyes halo died a few months after the 3rd game alot of times i even wonder why i liked it so much to begin with lol but as others have pointed out it would only make sense more ppl played the beta for reach than the beta for halo 3 the 360's install base is way larger now
