More Medal of Honor beta invites for PC and PS3 are out photo

Electronic Arts has announced today that they're sending out the second wave of invitations to join the Medal of Honor beta for PC and PS3. If you signed up at the EA Gun Club site, you should probably start checking your inbox to see if you've been accepted into the fun.

What if you're an Xbox 360 user who has been waiting patiently for the last two weeks while other people were able to have a great time killing one another? Keep waiting. There's still no update on when the 360 beta will be opening up, but EA assures us that they're working on getting it out there.

I played a round of this at E3 and, while I sometimes have a hard time telling one military-themed shooter from another, I had a good time with it. Who's been playing? Any impressions you'd like to share with the class?

I've been in the beta since the start. It's nothing special. It has Dice's usual faults and Dice's usual triumphs. It's basically a smaller version of Battlefield, it plays more quick and arcadey, which is what they were going for.

But honestly with the latest patch to Bad Company 2, which ironed out most of the games remaining issues (still waiting on FOV, teamscramble and Bloom fix), there's really no season to play medal of honor instead, as MOH is just the same game, but with less.

Well, close enough I suppose. :-)

Wait, Activision is doing Medal of Honor? Wouldn't that be ironic.

Proof that Medal of Honor 2010 will be an absolute failure: Even game journos confuse it with Call of Duty/Modern Warfare!

I'm really interested in trying this one out, as much as I enjoyed the basic MW2 gameplay it was fucking ruined by the stupid perks, the ridonkulous loadout options and the spiraling killstreaks. Not to mention the fact that the character models were shiny like that fuckwit from Twilight and could bee seen from miles away.

I also fucking LOVE Battlefield, the old ones, the new ones, ALL OF THEM!

So I'm pretty stoked to try this out - suppose I should sign up for the EA Gun Club.

Don't you need to have some sort of Pre Order code too? Or are they also randomly picking other users too as long as they're signed up to gun club?

I've won a beta code.

Haven't be able to redeem it.

I've RECIEVED A BETA CODE, LEGIT STILE FROM EA.

Can't Redeem it.

Apparently, I don't meet the requirements to log on to the website, EVEN THOUGH I'M ALREADY LOGGED ON BEFORE I HIT THE LINKS TO REDEEM MY BETA CODE. WHICH I CAN'T.

What the hell has been going on the past few weeks?

I was really excited for it after E3. I didn't feel that same excitement in the BETA. I don't know if its me or DICE's rendition of Kabul. Everything blended together in an optical illusion sort of way and it became very difficult for me to play. Then went back to playing B:BC2. Think I'll give it another go today.

It's very fun, but because it uses the frostbite engine, on Kabul City Ruins the US team has an advantage 90% of the time due to their sand colored camo, as 90% of the map is just that, sand colored.

I got the key yesterday and passed the entire night playing it. Itīs quite fun, actually, despite all the bad issues, like bug, crashs, lag and LAME GRAPHS! Comparing to MW2, itīs SHIT or better, DONKEY HORSE DUMP SHIT graphs, but itīs fun and quite addictive. I know itīs a work in progress, just hope they improve the graphs! ;) Oh, and other thing.. PS3 Controller Suck balls to play a FPS!

I have to say this beta is lame. Xbox owners shouldn't lose sleep over not getting it.

I got an invite yesterday, and played it for about a hour before bed. The gameplay is a lot more Call of Duty than Battlefield. The maps are smaller and the action is quicker.

I wish there was a little more variety in the classes and unlocks though. It seems like everything could be unlocked in a very short amount of time.

Also, the sniper starting with a red dot sight instead of a scope is almost as dumb as a medic not starting with defibrillator paddles.

Has no one here played Battlefield 1943?? It's the class system out of that but with just deathmatch and attack & defend as of right now. The leveling system is straight out of Bad Company though. It's fun but it is still pretty rough (duh it is a beta). It'd definitely be more enjoyable with my Dtoid hoes :D

It's clearly EA's answer to Call of Duty. While not as team-focused as I'd like, it could still change (where are squads??), the fact that many of the perks benefit your teammates is something I really like. Anyways I'm going to keep playing.

Been playing it quite a bit recently and its not too bad. I think the weapons need a little more damage added, seems like I have to shoot someone quite a bit to get them to drop. Hit detection seems pretty sharp but there have been a few times where it looked like I was shooting someone in the head and didn't get a headshot kill. The assault rifle grenade launchers need improvement though, they seem way underpowered, its hard to know where they land and why the guy you shot one directly at didn't die, same thing with the RPG as well. I'm not looking for Call of Duty grenade launchers as I barely use them as it is, just make them a little more useful should the situation call for them.

I have been playing the Open Beta on Steam. Not my type of game, unfortunately. It's not bad, it's just not as good as MW2 OR BFBC2 in almost every single way. It feels like a very derivative, beep-boop committee driven, market analysed game. It just fails to be special or stand out in any way. If you want more gun-gun action, yeah, it'll probably satisfy, but I'll spend my money on Enslaved, or New Vegas, or Vanquish, or just about any other upcoming game that's not about military men shooting guerillas. Okay, Vanquish is about Military men in robot suits shooting Russian Robots, but at least it's a different KIND of shooting.
