More L4D DLC coming after 'Crash Course' photo

It appears that Valve isn’t abandoning Left 4 Dead after the release of the “Crash Course” campaign downloadable content. During a recent visit to Valve HQ, the two Left 4 Dead 2 boycotters were “given a rough idea” of the unannounced and apparently upcoming L4D content.

“There is more DLC for Left 4 Dead coming after ‘Crash Course,’ Walking_Target said via the boycotter’s Steam Web page. “We were given a rough idea of what it should be, however we were asked not to talk too much about it so it didn’t ‘influence the creative process.’ “

“I can tell you this: it’ll either be a new Special Infected, a new Campaign or new weapon(s). It’s definitely one of the three, perhaps more.” Walking_Target then added that Valve asked the boycotters to not talk about the upcoming DLC.

Keep in mind that this isn’t Valve talking. We’ve fired off an e-mail to confirm this business and prayed to the Dark Lord of DLC for this to be true. Think about it: a new Special Infected for the original Left 4 Dead. Our palms are sweaty already.

How about The Blower: It can blow survivors off edges(they'll tend to grab on unless they jumped" and if used in conjunction with the boomer will make vomit go far. Or with the hunter to fly super high. He makes a heavy breathing sound and suck and smells like cabbage.

Right now I just want to play Crash Course. Tease me with more after that's out.

This is good news, for sure. Valve could treat L4D and L4D2 as separate games, rather than a prequel and its superior sequel. Release content for both, so they both have their own maps and infected. Of course, this would probably split the player base in half, but... uh... I dunno.

I cannot wait until the boycotters claim credit for "forcing valve" to release more L4D DLC. You know they will.

More content is always appreciated, it'll make it easier to wait for L4D2's price to go down.

@Korolev, but wasn't it the boycotters who drew so much attention to the DLC-less issue in the first place? Complaining is unpleasant, but sometimes it's the only thing that will make things change. We'll never know if they were actually planning anything new before the boycott. But regardless, we should all just be happy we're getting more content. :D

More anything makes me happy. I'm just burned out on L4D and want something new to spice it up a bit (granted, I did just play for over three hours on FNF with the Dtoid 360 usual suspects, so I guess I'm not THAT burned out on it).

Something I'd like to see eventually (not necessarily new content) would be the ability to prefer a particular special infected, either via profile or some selection in multiplayer. If it's a more commonplace special infected (Hunter), obviously most people will get what they want. But in the event that it's something that is assigned one-per-infected-team, maybe it would just randomize who gets it in the event that multiple people are interested in the same infected type.

Just a thought.

And I'm still stoked about the Jockey. :P

I would assume since the upcoming free content links two of the campaigns, there will be 2 more free campaigns that will link the other ones together.

Past that, maybe some new weapons taken from L4D2.

In short, Valve was of course not lying when they said new, free content will be coming to L4D... why the boycotters doubted them, I don't know.

B.A.
That's all that needs to be said. Oh, and this sentence, as well. For you slow folks who don't understand what B.A. stands for.
Doofus.
Yeah, that's right. Doofus.

more inbetween campaigns would be good, i.e.
Death toll to Dead Air
Dead Air to Blood Harvest.
(Blood harvest to last stand?)

You just won't give up will you? You can't admit to the fact that some people on the Internet who you savagely insulted and mindlessly disagreed with helped you.

Yes, Valve is humiliating the boycotters by doing exactly as they asked and flying them out to Valve HQ to give them exclusives sneak previews of upcoming content! That'll show 'em!

Those silly boycotters, being informed and active consumers and exercising their limit consumer powers! They're so dumb; LOL!

@ Yutt, you're being just as pig-headed. As a previous poster mentioned we'll never know whether the boycotters had an effect on Valve's DLC plans or not. Nothing ANYBODY says is going to change that small fact - thus arguing about their influence is a moot point.

They need to do something groundbreaking with L4D1. Cuz when 2 comes out its going to be so much more badass with more campaings and different zombies and whatnot. when they come out with these little things like Survival Pack and a 2 episode Crash Course (which im WAITING FOR!) Its not going to stack up to the new game. They need to come out with something with substance....give us a couple campaigns that are 5 episodes long. more weapons and at least give us a release DATE instead of a release MONTH.

Ghost- actually, you realise that this was the plan all along right? DLC was always planned, but those oh so bright boycotters never gave them a chance to implement it before bitching.

@LsTr_Of_SmG

No, it isn't in fact unknowable. The fact Valve spent several thousand dollars and a lot of their time to explain the situation to these guys show Valve took the complaints a hell of a lot more seriously than Angry Internet Men did.

It isn't moot at all, especially when we have proof that the complaints were effective, yet people continue to act obliviously as if the opposite were true. The complaints have had effects even Valve has admitted to, including far more additional content for L4D and hopefully better integration between the two games.

I'm not going to drop this when people were and continue to be complete dickwads to "boycotters" simply for standing up for themselves as consumers.

Apathy isn't a virtue.

First of all, Valve, lets get our priorities strait. We want Crash Course and Episode 3. Sure, L4D2 and some future DLC is good but lets cut the crap and get down to business here. I've replayed Episode 2 just a few too many times!

Evil valve wont make things fast enough... god.

@ Yutt.

For an obviously literate chap you've managed to miss my point entirely. As such I shall quote and further explain myself:

'we'll never know whether the boycotters had an effect on Valve's DLC plans or not'

This is true, we do not KNOW for sure whether Valve was working on DLC for L4D1 before the boycotters came into play or not - they claim they were. So on the point of 'did the boycotters have an effect on Valve's DLC plans' is unanswerable.

I, in fact, agree with you on some points we have definitely befenited from the actions of SOME of the boycotters - the existence of this article is a testament to that. You're comment that Valve has admitted to creating far more additional content THANKS to the boycotters is, to my knowledge, inaccurate though should you see fit to furnish me with a link I would gladly adjust my view. You seem to assume I am against the boycotters, which is untrue. I am against SOME of the boycotters, in the same way I am against some of the people playing down the importance of them.

Your assertion that I am being apathetic is ignorant based on a single post I have made on the subject, rather I am quite interested in it - I merely stand in the grey area of being fully on neither side. A situation many ignorantly label as apathetic without truely understanding the meaning of the word.

Apologies if this post in inconcise/incoherent in any way I got quite carried away with myself and had to rush halfway through due to being late for work - so sue me I'm a net junkie!
