After the highly detailed corporate Web site launched for Haze's fictional Mantel Global Industries, it left many of us wondering how deep the game's story might secretly be. Given the information for several fake products and activities, it made us think about why those details were provided, and what other information wasn't being shared. We know that Mantel Global Industries is a corporation that basically rules a good portion of the world with hostile force thanks to their mysterious "Nectar" substance. So what else is there to know?

With the power to alter your physical abilities by using this addictive drug, the video above shows the many ways to play a Mantel Global Industries combat squad leader. Sure, the rough outline of the story behind Haze seems pretty simple, maybe even boring. When I saw the first screenshots it looked like a knock-off of Crysis to me. Although, after watching the video after the jump, it looks like Free Radical is pushing the story further than I thought they would. The two amusing French guys in the interview weren't very impressed at first either, but if you watch to the end you'll see the beginning of a few intriguing twists Haze has in store for us.

Looks awesome, not a fan of the fisheye/blurry around the edges view though. Cool to hear it will have a detailed story line... hopefully it will be a good one.

You know what was realy sweet about this trailer? I didn't touch my keyboard and my screen tinted kicked in RIGHT when the guy elbowed the screen and cracked it. It was nice...

I see they are doing a little number from Metroid Prime and trying to really make you feel like you are in the suit (I could be wrong butI got the impression Metroid Prime was the first to do this).

Doesn't look too bad but I get a vague familiarity of this game when I hear about this nectar and power boosting and such, maybe i am thinking of Project: Snowblind or something like that!

looks good, i would say almost-there CryEngine2 there. honestly I wanna try this over halo3, at least I get to see more colors than red vs blue.

Yellow ftw!

I feel like you never really hear presentations like this saying something was bad. I think it was refreshing to hear..

I just have to be a jerk and ask, why would you opt to embed a video from dailymotion for this vid? Gametrailers has it, the video is higher video quality and higher audio quality. I just can't comprehend any reason why you would choose the dailymotion embed over the gametrailers. youtube would have been the only worse option for you to choose.

This game really does have alot more story than meed the eye;
*semi spoilers*
what you can justabout see in that end clip where everything looks abit grey is what happens when you dont get any nectar. the player sufferes from withdrawal symptoms and you see what the worl looks like to everyone else. Its grey, stormy, when you kill people its brutal and blood pours everywhere, their bodies lay on the ground, you hear them scream when they die.

you nectar kicks in and suddenly everythings much nicer. you shoot someone - they die, and their body fades away like a good videogame. mantel is desensitising war.

and thats not even going into what happens when you get an overdose of nectar... or the fact that mantels supirior technology steamrollers over insurgencys like this, allowing the US to effectivly police the world for their own gain.

Deeeep.

It seems like Jacob's Ladder when you overdose - indiscriminate kill spree that ruins the mind of the people using it. Could be interesting, but all's said and done, it's just another FPS.

See, most previews I read/watch are just too damn positive. They focus purely on what looks awesome and don't give so much as a nod to any possible pitfalls in the design. That being said, this was too damn pessimistic for me. Seriously, these guys made me want to just give up on game development, lie down, and die quietly.
