More free Mass Effect 2 stuff for Cerberus Network users! photo

Perhaps the exclamation point is overkill -- the latest free add-on for Mass Effect 2 is simply a new heavy weapon. Nothing more, nothing less. The Arc Projector, as BioWare has so lovingly named it, can now be downloaded for anyone with access to the Cerberus Network storefront.

On the other hand, the gun sounds rather fun to use. You point it at things you want to electrocute to death, and splash damage plays a big role in its effectiveness. There's a nice picture on BioWare's site that shows the Arc Projector shocking some poor Husks in the most glorious of fashions.

Yeah, I get that you mostly just want the "Firewalker" DLC to come out already. So do we.

[Thanks, Steve]

Can never complain about free DLC, Glad to see EA and Bioware are really going all out to support the Cerebus Network. Though I'm curious about that armor. Maybe I'm just blind, but I'm not seeing anything on the Mass Effect site that looks anything like what Shepard is wearing in that picture above.

Actually...change Firewalker DLC with the Kasumi DLC character, and you got it right sir.

Ooh, but I think that weapon looks spiffy though. =D

Not going to complain about free DLC, even if it's just a new item every few weeks. A few of my friends complain that there's no replay in ME2 but I drastically disagree, citing how if you make the effort to play each class as they're intended to (as in, don't run around gunning everything down as an Adept, for example), the game has great replay value. On top of that, having a few new toys every time I get around to playing the game isn't a bad thing either!

@TheRemix It might just be one of the base outfits recolored? That's most likely what it is as all of the DLC armor sets require you have your helmet on the whole time (that thing must stink in there...).

Sweet! Can't wait for either DLC. I really hope they make a big expansion like they're doing with Dragon Age. I still haven't completed my second playthrough.

Looks awesome... can't wait to try it out. ME2 is such an amazing game.

It would be great for a non linear game, or for the 12 people who haven't played it yet, but after beating ME2 two times, there really is no point. The game gets really boring once you've heard everything. Throwing candy on it doesn't make me want to play it again. Maybe before 3 comes out.

It looks a startling amount like that weapon in District 9 that also shot lightning.

I'm curous how much stuff they're going to put in before calling it quits. If they add enough, and that's a big if, I wonder if people would re-review the game and see how much of an impact all the stuff adds.

cool I haven't stopped playing ME2 yet. Granted though I got my copy a week later than most people, but still there's so many different variables and outcomes to see.

That's all cool and dandy, but when are we getting more downloadable fish? My Captain's Quarters' aquarium is in drastic need of diversity!

I really appreciate how they're supporting ME2, but do we REALLY need another heavy weapon? We need some more pistols. It's the only gun that's used by every class and there is very little variety in how much you get. There's the Carnifex and the Predator and that's it. I'm pretty sure you could add up the amount of all the snipers, pistols and SMGs and you'd still have more heavy weapons.

Dear BioWare,
Stop dropping weapons and give us proper content,
Thank you.

But, if they have to add weapons, they need to put in more SMGs and Pistols.

I'm loving Bioware for their support, yet I wonder how long they're going to keep it up.

As much as I like free DLC, I would gladly drop $20 for some real, ten-hour long DLC. C'mon BioWare, Dragon Age is getting that huge expansion, can't you give ME2 something along those lines? I understand that at this point in the story it doesn't call for deviating, but maybe some side-quests as a different character? Something, at least. I love weapons and missions as much as the next guy, but we really need something big. Well, at least I do.

Please just expand Liara's story. "I was doing stuff for this guy and some things happened oh hack these terminals btw" isn't a fucking plot, it's a copout. Asking me to stay faithful for one stupid cutscene before the suicide mission isn't really fair.

@CtMythic Thank you. The end of that mission is also handled clumsily with the best part of the conversation locking up if you just ask out of curiosity.
For claiming to be centering on relationships, BioWare kind of brushes aside the old ones too much.

@ Snatch & Jordan

Glad I'm not the only one. Seems to be that "free" also means small. Don't get me wrong, I would never complain about free DLC, but dammit I want something that takes ten or more hours to finish. I'm hoping they have something up their sleeves that they haven't revealed just yet.

I get the feeling Liara's story is purposely vague to sell the Mass Effect: Redemption comic. Which I have 3 issues of but haven't read yet.

Here's to hoping the ME 1 relationships are vague for a balls to the wall, everything but the kitchen sink ME 3 finale. Free DLC is always great but I totally agree about the need for more missions. I'd pay good money as well for a 6-10 hour add-on.

That would be awesome, but ME2 has only been out for like a month. Give it some time.

I might fool around with this, but nothing beats the mini-nuke! You can almost one-shot the final boss

*looking timid out a hole* Somthing...for...free? For..us? Could it be? For us, the desperate tribe of the dumb Xbots? Really?

And on the other hand the brave White Knights from the Church of Sony have to pay for 10min gameplay in Heavy Rain?

What a topsy turvy World
