I'm going to get it, I was on the edge. Seeing as a lot of the DLC, if not all of it, is on the disc, that doesn't bother me. The same way I have all the characters in SF x T. ^_^
actually i just pre order the game as well as the brady games strategy guide(it may not be as good as future press or piggyback but it has item locations as well as bestiary and more!!!!!!) today at amazon.

as for the video you might want to switch it with the official Dragon's Dogma channel.
not only they have the same exact video(they only change the narrator to english) but the interview is in japanese with english subtitles.

Cancelled my preorder as soon as I knew there was on-disc DLC
Dark Souls and Skyrim are complete games, why settle for less than that? I wanted to give Dragon's Dogma a chance for its unique ideas, but supporting the game means supporting the bad, anti-consumer practices of Capcom, so fuck it.

This game is going to be so good. I have played the demo and unhealthy number of times. Everything I've seen or read about this game is absolutely spectacular. I was annoyed at the DLC debacle, but I will just ignore it, but this game...God...I need the lube....
Meh, might as well just get skyrim and dark souls instead (yes, I still have yet to own skyrim) and skip bullshit.

What's sealed the purchase for me is the superb videos OXM UK has been doing for the game.

Dollars to donuts the ads for DLC are just for weapons and junk to "get an advantage" or some-such. I like how Shoot Many Robots did it: you can put in the effort and gain the nuts and find the loot (you know, earn it), or "nut up" and spend real money.
Had a blast with the demo, and keeping my pre-order. Game is going to be fun!

As for the DLC, Zavvi's pre-order comes with a pack of rift crystals, armour and upgrade stuff .. and I presume another will be the '100 quests' which has been referenced for competitions and the suchlike.
I wonder if the Berserk and Record Of The Lodoss War armour will make it to Western shores as well?

@Pro from Dover - Nope there's withheld mission content as well. In Japan, some quest content is unlocked through buying a controller :/

I'm still getting this. Can't wait. I'm going to replay this game in full probably more than 4x because of the classes.
I want it. Have it payed off. Just need to see how bad the on disc shit is, as well as the popups. I will not give my money to anyone pulling such shenanigans.
Shenanigans being: Tons of on disc shit (not just weapons and such) and annoying popups. I don't mind a message on boot or a rare NPC reminder, but if its in my face, then no.
Give it to me on PC. I'm excited for Dark Souls soon. I've been waiting for the PC release to play that. If you give this to me on PC, I'll be a day one customer.
I don't know if Babelfish is up to the task of regurgitating the contents of that video into half-intelligible Engrish gargle but it sounds like a lark(the translation, not the video unless there is a bird out there who speaks flawless Japanese).

@Silent Protagonist: Do you have any links to information about how bad this is? I've been on the fence about canceling my pre-order but I've been waiting to hear how bad the in-game advertising Jim mentions is, or how noticeably absent the locked quests are.
I been playing Diablo3, and I am pretty sure this game will replace it for my precious game-playing time.
Can't wait for this game. I was worried when I heard of the dlc, but then I read the entire statement and the guy just said it's weapons and crap. Purely cosmetic stuff that you see as DLC in every Japanese developer game in existence ever.

Also, just an FYI, the Berserk outfit and weapons are in the game, and it isn't locked by DLC. In the stream last week the guy said you get the equipment from a questline.
Couldn't even muster two shits about the next Resident Action game. Quite excited for Dragon's Dogma though. I am entirely willing to take the early adopter burn on it. (See that kids? That's called realizing a lack of patience will cost you a premium, and not whining about it later.)
Can't wait for this. Haven't gotten D3 due to this and the lousy D3 launch. I'll wait til that stabilizes or I finish this multiple times.
Won't be getting it. Looks very cheap and jaloppy, more of a generic copy of a WRPG. Dark Souls looks way better, and this game can't even shine Witcher 2 or Skyrim's shoes. It's like they tried to take every element that makes recent WRPGs great and crammed into a feed bag for you all. If a Western developer made a cheap+ generic Pokemon or Persona knockoff and targeted it exclusively for a Japanese audience, NO ONE would buy it there.
I want it, but not bad enough to pre-order. And since there's no collector's edition like with Dark Souls, I can wait till this hits $29.99 on Amazon.
I only bought Bulletstorm for the Gears of War 3 beta.... But with this game the Resident Evil 6 demo is just a bonus.... I WANT TO FUCK UP GRIFFONS (and feel bad for them at the same time)
To be honest, this is the only site I have read that has made this "in-game advertisement" claim... I haven't seen or read anything like that from any of the reviews be it the negative or positive. I will wait and find out myself when my copy arrives. Also, the only on-disc dlc anyone can even claim at this point in time is simply side quests.
Dragon's Dogma looks like it will be a lot of fun. It is doing fairly well review wise. Especially for it being a new IP and all. Engaging combat, interesting pawn system, mediocre story, DkS type open world, some technical problems on both consoles.
