More DS tapping: New rhythm game Beat City photo

Rhythm games are my jam, so I'm glad to see that at least one more is in the works. This is from developer Universomo, and it's called Beat City.

This DS game is supposed to tell a story of revolution and love, and of restoring beats to a city that has lost its rhythm. You'll play through 20 stylized music-based minigames that have you swiping, tapping and holding to change the city of beats right in front of your eyes.  The better of a beat you keep, the more that is unlocked in this environment. I love the name of the villan in this story: Dame Isolde Minor and her Cacophony Corporation.

This sounds pretty cool and the visual style looks great. Here's hoping we hear a bit more before the spring 2010 release.

I love rhythm games until they come to the US, where they're often stripped of any good music and filled with chart topping pop and alternative rock crap. I hope this has some decent original music that doesn't fall into that pit. Rhythm Heaven did a good job, I'd like to see more follow that path.

And less the path of Elite Beat and US releases of Taiko Drum Master and Pop'n Music.

Loving the art style here. I didn't much care for Rhythm Heaven, but this looks like it'll try to do what that game did, with a more eye-catching art style. Hopefully the music is awesome as well, and stays away from the pop crap that plagues our radio here in the US.

@Getouttadodge: Man I loved that song.

This game's art style alone made me want to check it out. The fact that it's a rhythm game makes it more interesting to me.

Rhythm Heaven and Elite Beat Agents are getting a new friend.

Hi, guys, the producer of Beat City here. I just wanted to confirm that all the music in the game is indeed original - and based on development team's experiences over the last year, they get stuck into your head pretty easily.

Glad to hear that you are excited about the game. We definitely share the sentiment and can't wait for it to be released!
