I stopped taking the survey when I found out they wanted experienced DotA players. I barely played the first one, so I was lost while trying to answer the questions
Since I am already in the beta for a month I can tell that HoN, right now, is still the better choice for people who like these types of games. But I guess Dota2 will improve over time (that's what beta is for anyway) and might overtake HoN at the top spot.
If the link in your email doesn't work you can copy and paste the link into a Windows Explorer tab and it should open it in Steam for you. That's what I had to do to take the survey.
