Dead Space: Extraction lands in the states this Tuesday and is already out in Europe. If you haven't experienced the awesome that is having your very own light gun arcade in your house (some accessories required) I suggest you head out and pick up either House of the Dead: Overkill or Umbrella Chronicles (or just wait until Tuesday) because despite most people's disdain fro the on-rails genre it's really growing on the Wii. Case in point, Dead Space: Extraction itself, which is in depth enough to warrant a slew of videos on almost every aspect of the game.

The launch trailer is above followed by more in depth videos on the controls, the story and the "horror" of the game. It's clear that EA actually put some time and development power into this as the game not only looks great, but seems to have people behind it who are really passionate. Plus, it's an on-rails shooter. Don't pretend like they weren't your favorite game in the arcade.

I am just worried this game won't be able to make me jump like the first game did when I was busy looking at the shop screen in-game, only to turn around and see a necromorph breathing down my neck. I am worried that they can't replicate horror like that on rails, but I'm just being skeptical. I'll still be getting this.

I was playing it yesterday. It's good fun and great production values. The biggest problem is just it being a rail shooter. You desperately want to explore or at least control the camera yourself (you occasionally get a chance to do this) but you're just stuck. Also for a rail shooter the first chapters at least have quite lengthy sections of story. You can still shoot but without any effect (people don't react and gun jams if you try to shoot any characters) and it's just a tad frustrating since there's no way to skip to the interactive sections. Still I'd say it's worth it.

There's a motion comic as an unlockable bonus as well and that's pretty cool.

I really like it when I played it at PAX. I'm glad that the Wii is home to so many on rail shooters.

My girlfriend and I just finished HOTD: Overkill the other day, and it was great. You guys are right about the quality of on-rails shooters lately, they are getting really good.

I'm glad I rented Overkill instead of buying it. The gameplay was okay but fun but it lacked surprises, thrills. It could have been more ambitious.

What really turned me off to the game was the atrocious dialogue (it was amateurish at best and not even cheesy in a good way).To make matters worse, the amount of cursing proved to be incredibly annoying. Levels like the Swamp were also quite dull and the bosses were ridiculously easy. Lastly, the whole grind house theme wasn't as big of a deal as the developer made it out to be.

I've sank in some time with Dead Space: Extraction and its easily the best on-rails FPS of this generation so far in my opinion. While it fails to be scary it makes up for it with its solid gameplay, good graphics, terrific atmosphere, strategic boss battles and an interesting story.Plus, some of the gameplay mechanics and weapons make it a rather unique and refreshing experience for the genre.

I wish that they released a real light gun for the wii. The wiimote just isn't accurate enough.

The "teaser image" for this new video just makes me want to feed the necromorph, not sever his limbs...

He looks hungry.

Yes it is a pity about that. The wii's system works bt it is a poor substitute. I'm not sure what a good solution would be that would be compatible with all the different kinds of displays available these days.
