More (and maybe all) of Guitar Hero 5's track list revealed photo

Looks like Activision has decided to pass along to IGN a handful of the set list for Guitar Hero 5. certainly as impressive in its variety as the game's developer, Neversoft, had promised. Here's are the 25 confirmed tracks, minus the previously announced songs from E3:

Band Of Horses - "Cigarettes, Wedding Bands"
Beastie Boys - "Gratitude"
Beck - "Gamma Ray"
Billy Squier - "Lonely Is The Night"

While IGN has been getting the "confirmed" treatment, Joystiq on the other hand, has put together its own (completely unofficial and unconfirmed) list of all of the game's tracks. Posted a few days ago, their list is a spot on match for what IGN just revealed, which lends some credence to Joystiq's sleuthing. Good work, guys.

You can see their entire list after the jump. You can also see a completely made up "leaked" list in our forums, if you're looking for a good chuckle.

Honestly, this list includes a whole lot of mediocre songs. While I like variety, a whole lot of these songs are just plain shitty.

Damn it, I'm so confused. A handful of those songs are really awesome, but the rest (for me, anyway) are so meh-some that I'm just not sure what to do.

Some good songs, some bad which is the standard for the genre.

I'm more surprised that two dead rockstars (kobain and cash) are in the game.

Why the fuck would you rebuy this game after world tour? This should be an expansion pack / DLC. Any gameplay elements that have been changes should be implemented through a DLC update.

OMG THERE IS ELLIOTT SMITH!!!! No Radiohead... but they have ELLIOTT SMITH!!!!! This might be the first Guitar Hero game I buy in the past 3 years.

I really don't want to have to buy another game to get these songs because there's really only a handful of them I'd want. Bob Dylan, Children of Bodom, Darkest Hour (how awesome is that??) and Thrice (my favorite Thrice song).

Well here's hoping that my little brother is gullible and decides he needs this game too.

Anyone else find that putting dead people in a videogame as playable characters comes off as disrespectful?

I want to make it, I want to make it wit chu ahhh.

Don't know if I'm going to pick it up, as the few songs I like in that list are drowned out by awful bands/songs. Sucks they used "Wanna Be In LA" from EoDM as they have other awesome songs to pick from. I'm pretty conflicted on this matter.

Day one. Darkest Hour!!!!zomg!!! And Face to Face. My band used to warm up with Disconnected. For me, this is pretty much the best song list yet.

Yeah, I agree. There are some songs that would definitely be fun to play, but I'm not liking the overall list.

Also, lol:

"if you have to be in a video game to get in front of them, that's a little sad." -Jack White, with two songs of his featured in the game.

I mean, dead people in something like a wrestling game makes sense, since they're all supposed to be real people, but I'll be major pissed to see Cash and Kobain next to Guitar Hero's goofy ass characters. Especially if they pull the same stunt they did in WT, what with that game's surreal c-grade rockstar supergroup finale...

I can see it now. Kobain, MJ, Flea and that dude from Blink-182 playing the Jonas Brothers atop a Best Buy celebrating the launch of a new Guitar Hero... that there's the future of music games.

I love more than half the songs on here. A lot of 90's grunge that reminds me of my teen years, good stuff. I wish they would have put "Machine Head" instead of "Come Down" by Bush and as far as Sonic Youth goes, when are they going to add "Diamond Sea"? I love that song!

Not the best list, but whatever I'm not buying it. I'm going to wait until there is a Guitar Hero with pretty much every song ever (at least the ones in GH series) available. I have a feeling I'm gong to be waiting for a very long time...

Well, I've heard of maybe a third of the people on this list.

And also, no Hendrix Watchtower? Not to say that Dylan's is bad, but given the game is called Guitar Hero...

Zombiekiller13, you're right. Rammstein's "Buck Dich" would be much more fun. Just think of the possibilities with motion control!

^ that's what I'm saiyan. pun intended.

I think it was Nick Chester that I hit with a list of 30 or 40 bands I'd like to see in these games. How about some of that?

At least they could have put the Hendrix version of "All Along the Watchtower". Even Bob Dylan has said he likes Hendrix's version better. That being said, I think I'll just stick to RB DLC.

I dunno...even though I honestly thought after GH Metallica rolled around that Activision could actually redeem themselves, Smash Hits showed up and reminded me that it's still Activision. Plus, this list has a disturbing amount of "Great bands, not-so-great song selection" ordeals, plus a lot of underwhelming choices in general. I'll give it a rent and see how that turns out. Or maybe wait for the next spin-off title that uses the game's engine in a blatant cash-cow attempt to spend as little dev money as possible. Maybe it was just me but Metallica was so much better-made than World Tour (Possibly the best-made Neversoft/Activision GH so far).

That seems really really good.

And what's up with those Sublime forgotten hits? Fuck that, they have some amazing challenging songs, I would love to see some bassline nightmare from Sublime for GH.

Maybe Activision was thinking of your moms when they put this song list together. American Girl is my favorite song to sing along with. And the party mode makes it easy to join in for a couple of songs in between buying your snacks, cooking your dinner, and washing your clothes. If my kids don't want it, I'll buy it. Wise business move to appeal to other than teen and 20-something males.

Seriously lame. Only song on there that piqued my interest was Sweating Bullets, and even that isn't an ideal selection for Guitar Hero. Why play Two Minutes to Midnight in this crap selection when Iron Maiden's Flight 666 was just put out for Rock Band featuring stuff like Aces High?

I love how crap like Children of Bodom and Dragonforce get in Guitar Hero, yet Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot and Nocturnal Rites still remain unseen.
