You did it. I did it. Our neighbours did it. Hell, my dad did it (and he doesn't know squat about gaming). Now Microsoft's doing it, too. In an exclusive interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Microsoft's Peter Moore and Chris Satchell grabbed an opportunity to take a couple of cheap shots at Sony while they weren't in a position to retaliate.
"It's going to take [Sony] a couple of years to get up to speed on this, and I'm not sure that they necessarily have the talent, or it's built into who they are as a company," Moore said.
"They're struggling with some of their hardware issues, and apparently they're going to deliver another five million in the next 90 days. But this business is about hardware, software and services now. And the consumer expects that."
Can't say I disagree there. After all, don't we always say it's all about the games? But if you think this is good, read on for what Satchell had to say:
"If I wanted to make my online service better, and I wanted to give [Sony] a little piece of advice, it would be to copy Xbox Live a little more closely," he said.
"My honest opinion is that it's pretty much a disaster. They keep saying that they have a free service. Well, if they don't have anything, of course it's free. And you know what: what's free about $600?"
Ooooh, burn. I think he just voiced the sentiments of a million people across the globe there. Normally I'd complain about how corporations have nothing better to do than downplay each other, but this time I'll let it pass. 15-0. Service with Microsoft.

and yea, ouch.

or listen to the podtoid 12. I believe
At least Moore has a bit more tact to his comments, other than just coming out and saying XBOX LIVE IS AMAZING
Also Cocks comes from YTMND, its kind of like ending a bad story with 'And then I found $5'
I wonder if Nintendo will take a jab at them too, or if they really even need to.
Hey gamez1! I heard that the PS3 has the worst graphics ever and they explode all the time!!!
here is what Kaz had to say about the Wii:
"A worldwide launch for any console is quite ambitious. In fact, it has never been done before. I suppose if we had simply done a mild upgrade to the PS2 and not pushed the envelope so hard, it would have been easier on ourselves. However, if we did that every time, we wouldn't be Sony."

As far as attacks by Ninty? I think that would be bad since the online experience with the Wii is not much better than the PS3s. Hell the weather channel is behind by 12 h or more, the news channel still isn't there. Friend codes suck. There's no invite system. No online game (or VC titles). VC titles aren't anything new and cost too much. So on and so forth.
At the moment I'd say that the 360 is sitting pretty. Moore may be an ass Gamez1, but, for now, he is correct.
I think that you are talking about a little beauty called Fantavision! What a peice of...
THE CRAPNESS OF THE SUCKSTATION 3 IS PALPABLE
Get with the program.
By the way, can someone tell me what a cueball is? Apart from playing sports where you knock balls into pockets?
A cueball would be someone who is bald or balding, which Peter Moore is, but cueball tends to be used as a deragatory term
MS really thinks they won it all. It doesn't matter to them what sony and nintedno do anymore. It makes the Sony execs look a like a paragon of restraint and virtue.
Now an MS executive is making the distinction between shipped and sold :) Wow no double speak on the Xbox360 numbers there.
Sure and also Sony can't set up a multiple massive user servers. You know like the ones everquest and SWG run on. It's not in their "DNA" to develop products they already have.
That is, if things stay the exact same. They rarely ever do, though.
Makes me smile when people say that.
Sony may have actually oh fixed the production problems they were having?
Everytime I see a PS3 in my area it gets sold. I check back and sometime I see a single 20gb unit and sometimes it's a 60. Some times the boxes have bent cornors of shipping marks then they don't. The PS3's ARE selling.
Right now it seems that Sony is doing better at manfacturing than Nintendo is. After the initial glut of Wii they haven't been able to meet demand. I'd wager to say that they have NOT been selling 2 million units a month.
So go for it. Point to a stack of PS3's available in Colorado after a massive snowstorm and PROVE that the ps3 isn't selling.
It wouldn't be insane to think that Sony is selling around 300-500k units a month.
We don't even have to do that. Just listen to Sony themselves.
http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8MGL5000.htm
They say the have shipped 1 million units to North America since launch.
We know they sold 200K on launch day. That means they've shipped 800K since launch, and with units on the shelves we know they've sold less than that. So, Less than 800K sales in the 6 weeks following launch. Wow, thats almost 7 million per year. Hey if you are satisfied with gamecube sales numbers, then yeah, PS3 is doing just fine.
If they can keep up around the same sales in NA and world wide that would be around 50 million units shipped. More than enough to ensure that good games get made for the ps3 till it's demise.
The gamecube sold 11 million in NA over it's entire sales span. So 7 million a year crushes the gamecube.
Sony shipped 1 million PS3s to North America alone. They've SOLD a little over 1 million PS3s world wide.
That's a butt load of PS3s to be on the shelves.
Nintendo has sold nearly ever Wii ever made. That's over 3 million world wide.
You don't have to be a damn scientist to discover which number is bigger.
HAHA I TOOK A HUGE DUMP THIS MORNING AND AM GOING TO SELL IT ON EBAY AS A PS3LOL!1
AND THEN I FOUND 5$
- It's not even certain that nintendo shipped much less sold 3 million Wii's. Nintendo also had big production issues that led to less than 2(1.2-1.8) million Wiis being sold by the end of the year, the xbox360 JUST edged it out.
The article rederenced above showed 1 million PS3 sold/shipped in NA. Around an equal number was sent world wide also. There just aren't THAT many Ps3's sitting around. I live in the LA metro area and the units sell quicky. Maybe some stores are having a hard time moving them but it isn't like every single retailer in NA has a stack of 10 unsold PS3's.
If there are around 40000+ retailers every store would need a stock like that to make up your number of 400k unsold PS3 units.
So use a bit of common sense before your fanboy instincts kick in. Yes Nintendo did sell more units. Just because nintendo is doing well doesn't mean that Sony is doing poorly.
The median income in LA is over 36k a year, 40k if you have kids. So people here are far more likely to be able to afford a $600 than the rest of America.
I do suppose you want to go down that slope though I mean what IS truth? Does seeing an unsold ps3 mean that Sony has failed?
Maybe the PS3s in boxes don't exist? I've never seen a wii out side of a demo kiosk, is it for sale?
When an argument breaks down it's always a convient straw man to attack the "truth" and say neither side can be right and neither side can be wrong. Sure it's easy enough to Google up the PS3 and Wii sales numbers but are they right? I mean how can you know you even exist?
You think therefore you are. When happens when you fall asleep, will you cease to exist? You can not prove that you will not.
