Monster Hunter Tri gets bundled with Wii Classic Controller Pro photo

Want that sexy black Wii Classic Controller Pro pictured up there? Hope you like Monster Hunter!

Capcom and Nintendo have announced that this April a special Monster Hunter Tri bundle will be released, packaged with the above controller. The Classic Controller Pro isn't just a fancy, darker color -- it features a second row of shoulder buttons, as well as grips so your sweaty paws don't slide off the peripheral when hunting monsters. If the controller looks familiar it's because it's been previously made available in Japan only; it'll will work with any game that supports the standard Classic Controller.

Price? $59.99 for the game and the controller. Not a bad deal, really, considering Monster Hunter Tri was going to probably run you $49.99 anyhow. So, do you want this thing or not? Tell us!

Looks sexy. And as someone who needs a reason to turn on his Wii for another game other than Smash Bros., VC releases, or Mario, this game could be good. Let's just hope so.

I used this at the Monster Hunter event Dtoid UK went to and I'm really not a fan. It's way too light for starters and felt like it was about to snap in half. I'll probably still get it though because I enjoyed what I played of Monster Hunter Tri.

I heard they took out a good number of weapons in the game, so people are really dissapointed or soemthing. But... that really shouldn't stop people from slaying lots of new monsters and stuff. Also, think about the new armors you could make! I might pick this bundle up, because it looks like a good deal.

The classic controller Pro has been out in the Europe (or at least the UK) since around last October when the black Wii was released. It costs £19.99 on its own.

Personally I prefer the regular classic controller because the pro feels a little too light and empty. The shoulder buttons don't really feel as satisfying to press either imo.

If I wasn't just temporarily recalling my donated-to-my-parents Wii for MHT, I would so get this, but with the Wii going back to my non-gaming parents after I'm done with it I probably won't bother.

Cannot wait for MHT, but i got the Wii back the other day, plugged it in, showed the Mrs a bit of Wii sports, played 9 FRUSTRATINGLY AWKWARD holes in Tiger Woods and turned the fucker off.

Then i grabbed the PSP and hunted a few Monsters, hopefully the awesomeness of Monster Hunter will overpower the shitness of the Wii.

The Wii is the one and only console purchase i regret, can MHT make it worth buying. Hopefully.

This most definitely does make me more interested in the game. I'm gonna wait for some American reviews (Japan is insane) but this game sounds like it could be a blast.

I bought it a few months ago but other than playing a few VC games it hasn't got much use, I probably will just use the nunchuck wiimote combination for MHT aswell.

Nice controller, but not nearly as sweet as the one that came with the Japanese bundle. That one was dark blue with a gold dragon and logo.

You are thinking of the regular Classic Controller that came bundled with Monster Hunter G. Tri's controller was the Pro and wasn't branded in any way.

Ah, did you read the full press release? Because it clearly says that they're selling both the white, and black pro controllers separately for $19.99. So you don't have to get the bundle version, if you don't like Monster Hunter. But it looks like a good game, so why not get the controller for $10 cheaper?

I too used this at the DtoidUK Monster Hunter thing. I thought it was sexy as hell. I loved it. I'll probably pick one up over the coming weeks. I like the light-weight feel of it.

Yes I do. This will be my first Monster Hunter game--awww--, but the classic pro controller just pushed me into must-have territory.

Well honestly I was just planning on scraping my purchase of Monster Hunter Tri after the whole pay to play online thing, but I think this controller might change my mind.

@Jaysky

The pay to play model is Japan only, it's free to play online in the western release.

Somewhat interested. I've spent enough time away from SSBB that I could possibly re-learn to play with the Classic Controller's placement of the "a" and "b" buttons as is with much grief.

Not like before, with my muscle memory and the Wavebird.

has there been any word on online play pricing for monster hunter tri's US release? if it doesn't cost anything to play, i'm all over it, and will definitely get this bundle, but I really don't care enough about monster hunter to pay for a subscription....

@ brainderailment:

Depends on the game I guess? But hey, no big deal if you don't like them.

As far as the controller goes, I may just cough up an extra ten bucks for this. Considering that I was going to probably buy this game anyways....

I always wanted Nintendo to support their "Classic" controller more than they do. Honestly, the Wiimote doesn't work with everything, and I wish Nintendo knew that.

I've never played a Monster Hunter, and a forum I go on always has a Monster Hunter General up. This a good place to start?
