Monster Hunter Frontier could leave Japan photo

Monster Hunter Frontier has been confirmed for the Xbox 360, and you know what that means -- it might be due a Western release. Monster Hunter games have never been huge sellers outside of Japan, but that's mostly because they end up on platforms without a robust Western online presence. The 360 release could change that, however.

"I feel Monster Hunter can definitely succeed overseas," says R&D head Keiji Inafune. "There's a high possibility that MHF will kickstart that."

Monster Hunter Frontier was chosen for Xbox 360 because of the strength of Xbox Live, and much of that strength is in the West. Considering Capcom has tried the PSP iteration of Monster Hunter in North America and Europe, I'd say that's a very good chance of us getting a taste of this game before too long.

I can't imagine this will be free to play, like Tri, especially if Tri does well.

Speaking of which, I want Tri.

Well seeing as how they still release PSP versions, I'd say this is a pretty obvious decision for Capcom.

Does the PSP really need 3 MH games?

But is anyone really going to care if it comes here, or not by then? Its a port of a 3 year old PC game. If people are not going to buy the PSP version now, or the new Wii version in April, than I can't see them clamoring for this one come a year from now!

I have a feeling it was chosen for Xbox360 for a little bit of a different reason bunch of green reasons.

Also even though the game is three years old, both consoles are based on 5 year old computer specs (well except the PS3 -the graphics card).

considering the MH series is the closest we'll get to a PSO game that's not PSO, i'm all for a western release.

If there's profit to be made, it'll happen.

Everytime Capcom talks about a new Monster Hunter coming outside of Japan, they always say it might kickstart the franchise in the west. It never happens though...

Guy 2nd from left needs to chill with that shit. I know everyone wants to bring their big weapons to show off, but there's a line you can cross where you just start looking like a dick. That guy crossed it about 4 feet ago.

And did the woman on the right just bring a collection of scrap metal with her? What the hell is that thing?

They would have to change a few things that make monster hunter Monster Hunter for it to be mainstream in the West. And it would have to be free to play...

The majority of gamers in North America don't have the attention span to play such a game. Two hours in, they'll have collected their last herb and they'll pawn the disc at the nearest game store for the newest version of Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of _____, or whatever the popular game is with that crowd.

Doubt I'd bother with it. It takes me forever to finish playing one of these games, and with Tri coming out shortly I'll be years before I'm done with that. A couple hours here, couple there...
