Money at mouth: Videogame betting Web site BringIt.com photo

I suck so bad at videogames that I would never bet money on a match. There are plenty of people good enough, though, and if you or they would care to make a wager, BringIt.com will help you do that.

BringIt is a third-party that takes yours and your opponent's cash and holds it in escrow. It's still in beta, but should be in full force soon. You play, report the results, and then the prize is granted to the winner. BringIt charges a small service fee (starting at $.50) for their work. You simply register, fund your account, take on a challenge, and then hopefully get paid. Right now, the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii are supported.

If you live in the following states, you can forget about betting on games online: Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, Tennessee, and Vermont. Everywhere else is good. How is this legal everywhere else? Well, winning would be due to your skill, and not chance.

Are you good enough to put your money where your mouth is? How good? In an interview with BringIt.com's founder Woody Levin in ESPN The Magazine, it is said that up to $100,000 can be wagered. I don't know anyone that good, save for our own Topher at Super Puzzle Fighter

Hmm...this is a good opportunity to see if I'm really as good at Guitar Hero and Rock Band as everyone thinks...I think I'll wait 'til I'm rich enough to lose money to video games first though.

Oh, wait, FUCK. I didn't see Maryland up in that list of states. Guess I better give it a shot during my last few months in Virginia then. >_>

I would never put money on my skills (except in old UT2004 or Bushido Blade), but I would totally watch other people gamble on matches.

I'm a member of bringit and have played quite a lot of UFC Undisputed for cash. - It's fucking AWESOME! Not only can you win some punks money by beating them, you get to KO them and GET PAID!

I've probably lost as many matches as I've won, but if you only put $2 down on a game then it's no big loss and the added excitement is fucking ace. No game is the same when you've got money on it, no one is running in attacking wildly, it's VERY careful, makes it a totally different experience, no risks, careful skill and serious tension / excitement.

The phrase "good game, $10 rematch?" is a favourite - bringit hustler.

A good number of video gamers offset their deficiencies (pallor, odour, trolling) with a healthy distrust of many of society's ills. I haven't seen many (obvious) gamers down my local bookies putting 10 notes on a superfailcast. I hope this endeavour doesn't change that!
