At Microsoft's X10 event this week, Lionhead and Peter Molyneux will be bringing a demonstration of Fable III along for the ride. And according to Molyneux, notorious for making bold statements, you have no idea what you're in for.
"There's some very, very big things happening in Fable III," he told Game Reactor in Copenhagen last week," and it's really going to upset people. I'm really scared when I go out and tell people what it is [that] they're going to get super pissed off. They really are."
But he adds, "it's the right thing to do, man. I'm sure it's the right thing to do."
We already know that Fable III will support Project Natal is some way, and it's likely that this announcement (which will be demonstrated at X10) has some connection. While I can't begin to guess the specifics, I'd guess that it's likely that Natal will be required in order to play Fable III... and yeah, that would probably piss a few people off.
X10 takes place this Thursday, February 11 in San Francisco, and we'll be there to deliver the news to you. Sorry ahead of time if it pisses you off.
Fable was alright, two was awful, three...not surprised if it's gonna suck too.
Molyneux surely will be known for revolutionizing bullshit.
@Lakai: It starts really slow. Really. Slow.
CONFIRMED.
That or Molyneux is just getting people's attention in the weirdest way a PR stunt can. "You will hate this game". Uh....ok.....sure.
One day, a manufacturer will announce a new console called the outside world that has complete immersion and interactivity, with life-like graphics where all games exist in the console world and if you die you actually die. Molyneux will be the first to let you know how great it is.
I love Peter Molyneux. He's so fucking weird. What plane of the universe does this cat exist on?
Anyone who can legitimately not like Peter Molyneux has no sense of humor.
So, same old hype as always
"We already know that Fable III will support Project Natal is some way, and it's likely that this announcement (which will be demonstrated at X10) has some connection. While I can't begin to guess the specifics, I'd guess that it's likely that Natal will be required in order to play Fable III... "
And as usual it will be much ado about nothing, except the Natal forced buy might piss people off from this one this time, let's hope whatever it turns out to be doesn't backfire on them.
Or, Joystiq's prediction seems likely to get some fans pissed.
Now how's 'bout some Black & White 3??? I need my God-game/RTS/Pokemans hybrid game fix.
Good for him. Now maybe people will have realistic expectations.
OMFG I'm feeling hyped up by fable 3.
Natal support will be patched in as day 1, mandatory, paid DLC. And the game will retail for $99.99 for the standard edition.
Think about it: what was the absolute shittiest part of both Fables? "Talking" to NPCs. Though the nonverbal communication in the second game was clearly superior to the first's, it was still essentially this:
FART! "HA HA YOU ARE FUNNY I WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU!"
Which, you know, isn't exactly Edward Albee.
Assuming Natal works as advertised (which is the more pressing question, I think), you'll be able to literally talk to characters, thus eliminating the need for the stupid expression menu entirely. That's exactly what the Fable franchise has always needed, and if Molyneux can actually pull it off (which I doubt, but we'll see), I say more power to him.
Or FABLE III: Sports.
I NEED A FIX BADLY.
I probably will.
Gamers are such bandwagon riders, though.. trying desperately to cling onto whatever fads they can to remain 'cool'. It truly is hilarious.
And "The Movies"... which I personally enjoy
I'm not buying Natal. If this means I can't play Fable 3, then I won't buy that either.
I hope Petey chokes on his dinner.
One good thing goes for this guy and his games is that I have no expectation now days so he can do no wrong by publishing shitty games. I am ready.
I can almost guarantee it.
