Molyneux: Fable III reveal will get you 'super pissed' photo

At Microsoft's X10 event this week, Lionhead and Peter Molyneux will be bringing a demonstration of Fable III along for the ride. And according to Molyneux, notorious for making bold statements, you have no idea what you're in for.

"There's some very, very big things happening in Fable III," he told Game Reactor in Copenhagen last week," and it's really going to upset people. I'm really scared when I go out and tell people what it is [that] they're going to get super pissed off. They really are."

But he adds, "it's the right thing to do, man. I'm sure it's the right thing to do."

We already know that Fable III will support Project Natal is some way, and it's likely that this announcement (which will be demonstrated at X10) has some connection. While I can't begin to guess the specifics, I'd guess that it's likely that Natal will be required in order to play Fable III... and yeah, that would probably piss a few people off.

X10 takes place this Thursday, February 11 in San Francisco, and we'll be there to deliver the news to you. Sorry ahead of time if it pisses you off.

I've actually never played any of the Fable games. They just look boring.

Natal plus it's probably even more of a dumbed down casual game than the second one.

Another boring entry in the Fable series.

Fable was alright, two was awful, three...not surprised if it's gonna suck too.

Molyneux surely will be known for revolutionizing bullshit.

@Lakai: It starts really slow. Really. Slow.

I stand by my earlier prediction: Since all the concept art shows people sitting on a throne, Fable III will be a Natal-powered monarch simulator, where you sit in a chair giving orders.

Fable 3 is Natal ONLY, it will be episodic, day 1 DLC will be announced, it will have a vague moral choice system, it will no longer be 360 exclusive, and will be required to view in 3D.

CONFIRMED.

That or Molyneux is just getting people's attention in the weirdest way a PR stunt can. "You will hate this game". Uh....ok.....sure.

Maybe it will only be downloadable. Abandoning physical media seems like something Lionhead might do just to try and be "first". Plus, they've already been experimenting with episodics with Fable II, it would make sense.

I like Fable. It's not an amazing series but it's fun. But if they expect me to buy Natal to play 3, they can kiss my ass.

It'll provoke anger eh? Must mean you'll have to actually walk/run the exact distance you wish to travel in-game, whilst carrying the items you wish to fight with. Natal will be amazing.

One day, a manufacturer will announce a new console called the outside world that has complete immersion and interactivity, with life-like graphics where all games exist in the console world and if you die you actually die. Molyneux will be the first to let you know how great it is.

Fables are supposed to convey a moral through a story. The moral of this story is, don't play Fable.

AHAHA!!!

I love Peter Molyneux. He's so fucking weird. What plane of the universe does this cat exist on?

Anyone who can legitimately not like Peter Molyneux has no sense of humor.

"There's some very, very big things happening in Fable III,"

So, same old hype as always

"We already know that Fable III will support Project Natal is some way, and it's likely that this announcement (which will be demonstrated at X10) has some connection. While I can't begin to guess the specifics, I'd guess that it's likely that Natal will be required in order to play Fable III... "

And as usual it will be much ado about nothing, except the Natal forced buy might piss people off from this one this time, let's hope whatever it turns out to be doesn't backfire on them.

I agree with Static Jack. I like the Fable series, but if I have to get Natal for it, they can kiss my ass, too. The same goes for Sony and that awful-looking controller. If waggle isn't connected to a fun Nintendo game, then I'd rather not.

I would join the cool-guy club and talk shit about Fable but I actually liked the first two games. Fable 3 will be good, Natal or not.

Now how's 'bout some Black & White 3??? I need my God-game/RTS/Pokemans hybrid game fix.

Fable 3 will be Fable 2 with updated graphics, but will be incompatible with all DLC, which must be repurchased for twice the cost to support updated graphics. Achievements will be removed to enhance the experience, controls will consist of a 1 button fighting and magic system, armor will be removed to simplify and streamline the game. Towns will be removed, NPC's will not give optional side quests and weapons can not be upgraded. Also, Fable 3 requires a 64 MB memory card to play.

Natal support will be patched in as day 1, mandatory, paid DLC. And the game will retail for $99.99 for the standard edition.

If it is mandatory Natal, he's absolutely right to do it.

Think about it: what was the absolute shittiest part of both Fables? "Talking" to NPCs. Though the nonverbal communication in the second game was clearly superior to the first's, it was still essentially this:

FART! "HA HA YOU ARE FUNNY I WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU!"

Which, you know, isn't exactly Edward Albee.

Assuming Natal works as advertised (which is the more pressing question, I think), you'll be able to literally talk to characters, thus eliminating the need for the stupid expression menu entirely. That's exactly what the Fable franchise has always needed, and if Molyneux can actually pull it off (which I doubt, but we'll see), I say more power to him.

After being disappointed by the first two, I can safely say that I don't care what this guy does to try to hype this game--I am not going to buy it. Peter's finally realized that talking up a game hasn't worked, so maybe talking shit about it will get fans onboard. Ugh. I can't wait to see what happens!! :-\

It's so funny. A bunch of gamers who want to join the bandwagon knock on Fable.. despite the fact that those games always get glowing reviews and honestly aren't THAT bad of games (actually I loved the first one quite a bit, actually).

Gamers are such bandwagon riders, though.. trying desperately to cling onto whatever fads they can to remain 'cool'. It truly is hilarious.

Molyneux is a pretentious COCK. I can hear the smugness in that accent of his when I read that it's going to piss people off. Like he's wearing it like some sort of badge of honor.

I'm not buying Natal. If this means I can't play Fable 3, then I won't buy that either.

I hope Petey chokes on his dinner.

I don't care much about the fable series. It was meh when it first came out and it was meh when I tried the first episode of Fable II.

One good thing goes for this guy and his games is that I have no expectation now days so he can do no wrong by publishing shitty games. I am ready.
