Modern Warfare Wii compared to Modern Warfare PS3/360 photo

Really, Game Informer? Really? Is this what we're doing, now? We're comparing Wii games to PS3 and Xbox 360 ones? Apparently we are!

Yes, Game Informer has seriously run comparison shots between Modern Warfare: Reflex on the Wii and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in order to prove ... nothing. Aside from being two totally different games on systems that have no justifiable comparison, I really don't know what anybody would get out of contrasting a Wii game and a HD console game.

Surely we all know that the Wii is not capable of the same graphics as other machines. Are there really people out there that need to see a visual demonstration before they'll understand it? I can't even imagine fanboys getting upset by this stunt, considering how hilariously pointless it is.

Anyway, just thought you'd like to know that something like this has happened on the Internet today. Somebody visually compared a 2009 Wii game to a 2007 Xbox 360/PS3 game, and it was the most ridiculous thing in the world.

So ... which game do you think looks better?

The only way this could get any better would be if they announced COD4 Wii was a "guided experience" a week before its release.

Well technically COD4 wasn't HD, so you can still compare them? I don't know, that's the only connection I can think of.

Anyone who says the the 360/PS3 version looks better,is most obviously blind to the real world.

I dunno; I like the Wii version's style.

I think that part in the header will be really awesome: I mean, c'mon, rappelling down a helicopter line...ON RAILS!

Why bother comparing the Wii and PS360 versions. They should be comparing the DS and PS360 versions, if they don't do that comparison how will I know what platform to get it for?

Can you actually think outside of the box you live in? Plenty of people who don't read blogs every day have no idea about the difference between Wii, 360 and PS3. They assume (like all the recent previous generations) that each console released at a similar time will have similar graphical prowess.

Can we just ditch comparison shots in general? All they do is incite fanboy riots in comment sections and forums. I don't know anyone who bought a game for one system who based their decision on one of these comparisons.

Its pretty obvious which one it is that looks better. the wii wiins alwaays. You can not wiithstand the miight of a wii warrior(<--fanboy). The crappy useless hd watevers are just gimmicks, and an unpolished version of the best game to come. I can't waiit to trash talk thru wii speak

unless they say the graphics are bad, i think they are trying to show that the wii can do pretty good graphics. i dont think they are trying to say oh look this wii game is ugly compared to the other systems.

Oh come on. People who don't know have to be pretty fucking ignorant. I dare say that anybody who doesn't know, doesn't care. Wii owners didn't buy a Wii for great graphics, and trying to pretend that the average Wii owner will look at this and say "I did not know this, I AM OUTRAGED," is pretty ludicrous.

I think it's worth comparing. It's interesting to see how close they can emulate the look of a 360/PS3 game on the Wii. It's similar to comparing Dead Space: Extraction to the original.

Yeah, i agree with someone above, (too lazy to scroll back up) we all have a bad habit of keeping our blog-reading-games-details-loving-comparison-eating-up-dorky blinkers on.

Sure, WE know that the Wii looks like shit, but is often done well, and that PS3/360 games LOOK a billion times better. We even know why!

But to the average Wii owner, who only knows what HD is because people on the telly mentioned it. I'm talking the people who they make those "how to re-tune your freeveiw box" adverts for, you know the "take your remote, press menu, look for re-tune your TV" fucking things. You know, those scared-of-buttons, my kids taught me how to use facebook people, many of which who own Wii's - to those people this is exactly what they need!

They've probably seen people playing COD, or at least know of it, and to see how the family friendly waggleboxes version compares is seriously useful.

So yeah, chill your blinkers guys, this article is not for you.

This isn't about graphics. If they can manage to fit Conduit-esque controls onto MW4 they'll have a winner on their hands.

I can't play a FPS anymore with a DS3 or mouse and think its the superior manner of control. Give me an IR pointer any day.

I dont see anything wrong with these comparisons. If anything I promote them. Anything to make the wii look bad. AND I MEAN ANYTHING! ANYTHING AT ALL TO MAKE THE WII LOOK BAD, ITS A BAD SYSTEM. FILLED WITH BAD THINGS AND BAD PEOPLE PLAY IT! I dont trust anyone who has a wii. Im telling you now, these kids today dont give a shit. There crazy, they go around stabbing people without any care in the world. These comparisons are part of the problem, thats right! I said it! Now where am I?

I actually think this sort of comparison is interesting; not necessarily because it would help you choose which version to buy (like a PS3/360/PC comparison), but because it shows how different the game development for the two consoles must have been.

Kind of like comparing Splinter Cell: Double Agent XBox360 to the PS2/XBox one.
Two very different games, same name.

I'm confused: What people who don't know that the Wii is significantly less powerful than the 360/PS3 would be reading Game Informer? Or even buying a Modern Warfare game?

Did anybody else check the link Jim posted? One of the comments said that the Wii screens were pre-Beta. Also, the screens in the header are from two completely different scenes in the game.

Obviously there's a graphical difference, but I think some Game Informer writer is trying to stir up some hate for the Wii. Typical professional news media bullshit...

But it's worth pointing out modern warfare 2 will not be HD on any console. It's confirmed 600p on the "HD" consoles, so comparing it to 480p wii isn't so crazy.

To everybody saying "casual people" don't know the difference...um, no. They do. My GRANDMOTHER knows the difference. My in-laws, who bought Wiis for their kids knew that the Xbox/PS3 was a better looking system. Hell, even my MOTHER, who hates all gaming whatsoever except Bejeweled 2, knows that the PS3/360 is HD and looks way better then the Wii.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably actually know the difference.
Also, anyone arguing this is helpful is WRONG anyway, because this was published in GAME INFORMER, which means most the readers AREN'T ignorant Wii-Fit Grandmas. They already know the difference.
So, either way, this is freaking stupid, and Game Informer should know better. But hey, it's a magazine run by Gamestop, so why is this even surprising at all?

Maybe, just maybe, they are using these screenshots to prove that the Wii is an overpriced console and that a more legitimate price would be about half of that of low end 360's/PS3's. That's what I'd use the screenshot for. The Wii, limited storage, crappy online, duct tape = $99 FTW

Actually, I think this comparison is ok. Many of the games on the Wii are shoddy equivalents to the other consoles and it is good to bring it to everyon's attention. The fact that the Wii has been so successful concerns me as I do not want to see Nintendo's approach as the effective formula going forward for future gaming iterations.

I look at the music scene as a means of comparison. I cannot stand nearly all of the songs in the top 40 and think it is formulaic crap. The bands I listen to are not nearly as successful. I shudder to think if they tried to appeal to a wider demographic rather than their fanbase.

I don't want video games going this route.

But your family has you and surely they see you playing and get the knowledge of you don't at least mention it yourself to them or around them.

Believe it or not there are people who completely have no connections to gaming. There's a dude at my job, gets out and all, and it absolutely fascinated by my iPhone. It blows his fucking mind. Not the complicated stuff either. The simple shit like I can play music on it.

For terms of the hardware they are running, the Wii version is *technically* better. Look at Cryengine 3 and see MW be put to shame.

I'm actually rather impressed with what they did about the port, it looks reasonably good for a Wii port. Still really damn blurry and that though.

Most of the "game news blog"-reading public sees a graphics comparison as a pissing contest. As silly as this particular comparison looks to us at first glance, I doubt its intention is to have us ask ourselves, "now which one is better-looking?"

Its real intention is probably just to sit there and look pointless. Mission accomplished!

Comparison shots are good business. 50 comments already, BUSINESS. That is why Game Informer has this nonsensical article.
As for the screen shots themselves, they're both crisp, clear, functional and purrty. The PS3/360 are more purrty but that is all.
