Really, Game Informer? Really? Is this what we're doing, now? We're comparing Wii games to PS3 and Xbox 360 ones? Apparently we are!
Yes, Game Informer has seriously run comparison shots between Modern Warfare: Reflex on the Wii and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in order to prove ... nothing. Aside from being two totally different games on systems that have no justifiable comparison, I really don't know what anybody would get out of contrasting a Wii game and a HD console game.
Surely we all know that the Wii is not capable of the same graphics as other machines. Are there really people out there that need to see a visual demonstration before they'll understand it? I can't even imagine fanboys getting upset by this stunt, considering how hilariously pointless it is.
Anyway, just thought you'd like to know that something like this has happened on the Internet today. Somebody visually compared a 2009 Wii game to a 2007 Xbox 360/PS3 game, and it was the most ridiculous thing in the world.
So ... which game do you think looks better?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I think that part in the header will be really awesome: I mean, c'mon, rappelling down a helicopter line...ON RAILS!
^^^ how stupid would that be if this kind of person was a reality^^^^^
Oh come on. People who don't know have to be pretty fucking ignorant. I dare say that anybody who doesn't know, doesn't care. Wii owners didn't buy a Wii for great graphics, and trying to pretend that the average Wii owner will look at this and say "I did not know this, I AM OUTRAGED," is pretty ludicrous.
Sure, WE know that the Wii looks like shit, but is often done well, and that PS3/360 games LOOK a billion times better. We even know why!
But to the average Wii owner, who only knows what HD is because people on the telly mentioned it. I'm talking the people who they make those "how to re-tune your freeveiw box" adverts for, you know the "take your remote, press menu, look for re-tune your TV" fucking things. You know, those scared-of-buttons, my kids taught me how to use facebook people, many of which who own Wii's - to those people this is exactly what they need!
They've probably seen people playing COD, or at least know of it, and to see how the family friendly waggleboxes version compares is seriously useful.
So yeah, chill your blinkers guys, this article is not for you.
I can't play a FPS anymore with a DS3 or mouse and think its the superior manner of control. Give me an IR pointer any day.
OH JESUS! I wish somehow I could play you with a mouse and keyboard versus IR...thank GOD a PC will always have a mouse and keyboard for non-game functions, and I'll have an option if PC devs decide to go the motion control fad route.
Kind of like comparing Splinter Cell: Double Agent XBox360 to the PS2/XBox one.
Two very different games, same name.
Obviously there's a graphical difference, but I think some Game Informer writer is trying to stir up some hate for the Wii. Typical professional news media bullshit...
This is pretty ridiculous I will agree.
You mean like Jim likes to stirs up? Just Kidding Jim! I generally enjoy your articles. The opportunity for a diss was right there, and I couldn't help but go for it.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably actually know the difference.
Also, anyone arguing this is helpful is WRONG anyway, because this was published in GAME INFORMER, which means most the readers AREN'T ignorant Wii-Fit Grandmas. They already know the difference.
So, either way, this is freaking stupid, and Game Informer should know better. But hey, it's a magazine run by Gamestop, so why is this even surprising at all?
I look at the music scene as a means of comparison. I cannot stand nearly all of the songs in the top 40 and think it is formulaic crap. The bands I listen to are not nearly as successful. I shudder to think if they tried to appeal to a wider demographic rather than their fanbase.
I don't want video games going this route.
But your family has you and surely they see you playing and get the knowledge of you don't at least mention it yourself to them or around them.
Believe it or not there are people who completely have no connections to gaming. There's a dude at my job, gets out and all, and it absolutely fascinated by my iPhone. It blows his fucking mind. Not the complicated stuff either. The simple shit like I can play music on it.
If they have no connection, then why would they randomly buy an issue of Game Informer? It would be a more valid argument if this article was in a magazine like People or Redbook.
But I'm not. I'm criticizing them for trying to do it in such a lame way. Nice try though, please play again!
I'm actually rather impressed with what they did about the port, it looks reasonably good for a Wii port. Still really damn blurry and that though.
Its real intention is probably just to sit there and look pointless. Mission accomplished!
As for the screen shots themselves, they're both crisp, clear, functional and purrty. The PS3/360 are more purrty but that is all.
