On another note MW3 is fun for a lot of people and good on them, hope they enjoy it. Also while people may say this game is common denomiator stuff well one could see it as a good introduction point to games. People start playing MW because there friends do it and you never know next year they could be supporting your favourite indy dev.
*See Okami, Beyond Good and Evil, and Psychonauts for just a few examples.
Also, I KNEW IT. MONEY OUT THE YANG!
I see your point and I criticize Assassin's Creed for the same reason's I do Call of Duty. I actually never saw what people see in that franchise to be honest.
THIS is what you guys sound like.
Because everything that is popular that I don't like is lame and stupid and I'm better than everyone because I think that way.
On a serious note, I'm not sure why people think CoD is robbing the industry of creativity. Most companies know they can't best CoD anyway, so them creating a competing game is suicide. Skyrim, Skyward Sword, Deus Ex: HR, Mass Effect, Lollipop Chainsaw and several other games still have originality and fresh ideas, and of those that have been released, all of them sold very well. Not CoD well, but nothing will likely top that.
What two studios produce(infinity ward/treyarch) has no affect on the ability of another to release something innovative that pushes their respective genre forward.
But I guess you can't talk reason to haters. So keep on hating and being miserable. The rest of us will keep on having fun.
Selling fewer records/games =/= good either
Unless you're a hipster
Do yourself a favor and look up the word "subjective" or "opinion".
I think unfortunately it's the economy that contributes to this. In this economic climate movies like The Matrix never would have been made because people just aren't willing to take a chance. They'd rather go with the sure sales than try anything innovative. And I agree with Amtaix about AC, but i think it's just a sign of the times.
I dislike it not as a game or its effect on the gaming industry, but as a reflection of the state of youth and how it might alter their perceptions of important subjects growing up.
Exaggerating whatever compensation received as a way of downplaying what was actually received in case it ever comes to light is not a really good strategy.
Could have been any number of things, free games, earlier review titles, swag, whatever... it doesnt automatically mean you got golden controllers and personal female ball ticklers.
So you must also hate Battlefield. You give video games way too much credit. Why can't a video game just be a that. It's this industry's equivalent to a popcorn flick. It's harmless, so just let it be.
If you think CoD has that much influence on a child's mind than you probably would agree with those phony psychologists that claim violent video games cause school shootings. Lighten up bro.
