Modern Warfare 2 ups the ante with its Collector's Edition photo

Yep, that thing you are currently gazing upon is in fact a videogame.

To be more specific, it's the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2, complete with working night vision goggles, Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition, and finally, your very own Soap MacTavish head.

No word on pricing yet, but does that collection of goodies look inexpensive? I didn't think so. Besides this and the standard $60 version of the game, there's also going to be a Hardened Edition, which includes an art book, metal casing, and a redeemable code for the upcoming digital download release of Call of Duty.

It seems a little odd to me that all of the different versions shown are of the Xbox 360 variety, but Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling mentions these games are hot off production, and the very first of their kind.

If I were your accountant, I'd warn that A) purchasing this extravagant item is fiscally irresponsible and B) if you can't resist its charm, you have until November 10. Start saving up now.

I'd be down if the NVGs were decent. But I can't imagine they are unless this thing costs more than Rockband Beatles. And by the time there are any reviews it'd be too late to pick one up anyway.

Jordan, you need to look closer. They show the PS3 version at the end as well as the PSN Voucher. He just doesn't have one there with him on camera. I don't see how that's weird at all.

This would go nicely next to my Spartan helmet, but I will probably pass unless I get myself a ridiculously well paying job.

I know I'm gonna get ridiculed but I wasn't one of those people that REALLY got into COD4. I liked it, it was a good game, and I HAVE it.

But I HAVE to have this.

These comments need more raging PS3 fanboys. Only showed the 360 version? HOW DARE THEY!

Seriously though, that looks majorly expensive. I didn't think these collector editions were that popular. Whenever I go into game stores in the UK there are stacks of them left over for just about any game that has had one.

That shit looks expensive as hell. Probably more expensive than the Fallout collector's edition.

considering the price of that shit and that it was the very first print of each.. he was being pretty careless with all that stuff. chucking it around a banging it on the table!?

Well i think it will all be down to the quality of the goggles! There are NV Goggles out there for prices starting from 150$ up to 1000+$ for quality ones so if these goggles will have a long range then i think 150-200$ for a game + artbook + steelbox + goggles will be an Ok price!

It looks awesome, but did he say that CoD Classic would be shipped with the hardened edition? If so, I'll probably just settle with that.

Now that's an intriguing pack-in. I think I may have to pre-order this. Night vision isn't cheap, so I wonder what the price tag will end up being. Rumors right now peg it to around $170. I'm actually hoping for a higher price price point because at that level they are probably crap unless they picked up some old Russian or east-block surplus that "fell out of the back of a plane" and slapped their logos on them.

I wonder how many they are going to push to retail. There ended up being a lot of Halo 3 cat helmets sitting on store shelves. This may be a smaller run so that retail doesn't risk taking a bath by slashing prices to move this much larger product of their shelves months later.

They had better make a PC Prestige set. If they want my money, then it will be so.

The goggles seem insanely badass, but I kinda wonder about the actual quality of them. I'll wait until I hear what people actually saw with the goggles. NVGs aren't exactly something you can just throw in with a game without it either becoming super expensive or low quality. And if I ever spend that kind of money on NVGs, I would definitely want to pay a little more for a pair that actually works.

Yeah I really dont think I need this. Halo: Reach better step it up next year and include either 1. A real working beam saber or 2. A real working AI Cortana.

I honestly think that gamers would be totally cool with letting two endangered animal species completely die off for a free copy of the Prestige Edition. We'd have noooo prob with that.
