Modern Warfare 2 security patch prepped for all systems photo

Infinity Ward has announced that a brand new security patch for Modern Warfare 2 is currently in QA and prepped to launch on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game is still heavily played, but the PS3 version has especially fallen foul of scumbag cheaters. IW is on the warpath, naturally.

“The latest patch for Modern Warfare 2 has finished production and is now going through internal quality assurance. This new title update will address security issues that have affected online play,” said community manager Robert Bowling. “We plan to release this update for all platforms (Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC). No release date is set at this time. Once an ETA is established, it will be posted here.”

Fun times, good for all!

How did Infinity Ward do this? I thought they no longer existed and all MW2 related things would be put on indefinite hold.

Anyways, this is good news for my friends and I, as we still play MW2 at least 3-4 nights a week.

Isn't the cheating a HUGE problem on the pc version too? I avoided purchasing the pc version because of this.

This is good new for people still playing, too many games that I played were chalk full of cheaters.

@Magnalon
Berserk FTW!

Wait what? The PC version has been infested with aimbots since launch. The PS3 version is still pretty tame in my experience.

I quit MW2 when they took forever to fix the javalin glitch. That made the game unplayable for anything objective based like headquarters and since that was all I played I stopped.

@Hestar
I play nearly every day for a bit, and the game is just fine on the 360. Other than the occasional beginning of match disconnect, the actual gameplay is fine, with rarely any hacking or glitches.

You're thinking of Modern Warfare 2: which, like treythalomew, I also quit because of how many glitches there were.

So the Wii isn't a system, then.

@hestar I think you're confusing it with black ops.
I hope this patch comes soon because I returned black ops and want to see how much I've improved on mw2 since I switched to battlefield

Modern Warfare on Wii is the best one because of the glitches. Every player has a machine gun rocket launched? FUCK YES. It's as insane as Timesplitters <3

awesome it only took 9 months !! and the best thing is that it will do shit to hackers, all they need is a sigly update to their programs and done, IW = pathetic

Hestar I guess you are right but I don't think it has as many problems as when it was released.

Well, they sure took their sweet time, now they just have to C&P for Black Ops.

I sold my copy ages ago because of all the hacks, and I actually got a decent return on it ($25). Maybe if this patch actually fixes the major problems I'll consider buying another copy. Maybe.

Hmmm... I remember just recently when the current hacking for MW2 started, IW was saying that there was nothing they could do about it because of how the games uses the security of the system. And since hackers have breeched that security of the PS3, their hands were tied. Guess Sony's fix that will ban hackers from being online (PSN) now aids with the MW patching.
