Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition will cost you $149 photo

I didn't think I needed night vision goggles until yesterday, when Infinity Ward unveiled the super-spectacular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "Prestige Edition." How much will it cost? $149, according to Infinity Ward

In case you're out of the loop, here's what you get for 149 bones: Modern Warfare 2, an art book, a metal case, a reedemable code for Call of Duty classic, working night vision goggles, and a head to put the goggles on (that's not your own).

Don't need the goggles, or not in the market to blow $149? Try to "Hardened Edition," which will run you $80, and featuring pretty much every but the night vision goggles, which are apparently worth $70. A quick Google product search tells us that you can spend anywhere from $11,982.95 on a pair of night vision goggles, to one dollar for a thriller novel called Night Vision by Paul Levine. Where this puts the "Prestige Edition" goggles in the spectrum of quality is unclear.

Also clarified is some information about the digital download Call of Duty -- it will feature multiplayer. But you'll be too busy playing Modern Warfare 2 instead, right?

@CAL

Excuse me then, I thought you were being one of those smug assholes who think they are just to good for old games and everyone should just play new games. CoD Started what is a great series, sure there is some turds in there, but the original is still the best online multiplayer experiences to be had if you ask me. Even better than MW.

I don't know, are those goggles high quality stuff? If that's not the case, I'll just probably get the Hardened Edition.

I'm generally not one to buy special editions of video games unless they're really, really, really huge games. I think the only collector's edition I've bought to date of a video game was Halo 3, and now I regret that because the discs are always falling off the mount inside the case. Maybe I'll get a limited or collector's of MF2 if they're $10 more expensive, but I'm certainly not getting nightvision goggles or whatever else the packages come with.

Call of Duty 1 was a terrific game, and if the multiplayer weren't a ghost town, I would go back and play some right now. I just hope that the rerelease brings up server volumes.

Although, to be fair, I don't know how valuable the download is. I'm pretty sure Walmart sells the original Call of Duty for like $5 now.

WE LOVE FREE PLAY! especially if we are talking Modern Warfare 2 :D But be careful now, it seems Microsoft had tighten their belt and have recently banned 1 million xbox live players for using a pirated copy of Modern Warfare 2

so much for the "free-play": http://bit.ly/one-million-players-banned-on-playing-modern-warfare-2

Today, we see the wrath. Say adios to your 50 USD worth of xbox live-id
