I remember W@W having serious issues with players either under or outside every map - That was the big one anyway. It was unplayable for a couple of weeks.
Anyway, I got on the 360 last night and the first game I got into was an infinite ammo game - It's just complete mayhem. So, I quit and got into a regular game and then was put into another hacked room.
So, I switched over to the PS3 and played the entire night without issue. Surprisingly, I didn't even see any of the 10th prestige hackers(Which is a complete non-issue anyway). I'm assuming all those douche bags were over on the 360 getting their kicks.
I blame the cheaters/hackers. They're taking advantage of the game, it seems like by now people are clearly going out of their way to look for glitches and cheats just to get ahead. People are ruining to game for other people, the people doing it are at fault.
And it really sucks reading through the comments of Jims articles. People are so bitter towards him over some of the shit he says and it boggles my mind that people get that bothered with anything he says. I guess people can't accept that even if you disagree with it, at least what he is saying is honest and not spoon fed bullshit. Which is one of the reasons I read his posts.
Yes, Live is getting hit harder with cheats and glitches, but like Rucksack said, part of that is due to Live being the bigger installed base. If I make an MW2 bug, I want it to hit as many people as possible. Ergo, I go for Live. That makes sense.
Now, re: Sony. I don't know much about the PSN/MW2 community, so I don't know what kinds of glitches and fixes are available. What I do know is that it's most irrelevant. Jim's editorial was about how Sony approaches the problems on PSN, arguing that it was counter-productive. Even if he's totally wrong and Sony have been throwing fixes down left and right (and like I said, I wouldn't know), he's arguing a totally different issue.
@Sanious: yet he spoon fed you about how XBL is better than PSN because it's paid and it's quick on the banhammer. (If you don't buy that, I apologize for assuming so).
And yea we do blame IW, they earned the wrath of some of the most ingenious people in the digital world.
PSN doesn't make money by banning people so no bans over small shit.
The fact you can use the Javelin glitch, so what, sure it sucks but this online stuff isn't real life. It's not cheating if everyone can do it IMO.
I'm no PS3 fanboy, but the way M$ does business..... no thanks!
Also this is IW's fault as the bases for the mod is off the "Infected" title, IW's own code. Beta's are for this exact purpose people are suppose to try to break the game in beta, something they apparently didn't try hard enough at. These things could have been could in an open beta. Probably best on Live since it actually, unlike Jim has noted in his imagination, is cheater haven. ALso how the hell is MS going to ban anyone? Your unwilling in the transfer of these new codes (apparently much like infected title), so how do they go about banning anyone for it? Oh that's right they don't need a real reason.
If you were referring to me, my comment was only meant in as an ironic tribute to everyone who is blaming Microsoft for this. I figured I might as well up the ante and jump straight to blaming them for real AIDS as well.
I imagine if you show up to the beta doorstep with hacked code you won't be welcomed inside. This is separate from a glitch included in the code. You would likely get booted from a beta for hacking the game, thats simply not the idea behind a beta.
This would mean more than a few inoccent bystandards are gonna get it along with the guilty and considering you pay money for live that's no good.
They have to be careful here, this would definitly put a negative view on live if people who did no wrong get banned (not to mention there will be a few lawsuits to boot).
to get connected to this lobby with infinite ammo.??? Now that
is ridiculus.... I signed into xbox live yesterday only
to be thrown into one of these games and thought "WTF" so i backed out after a few seconds of watching that crap. So now what will i get banned? I dont think
so. I think M.S and I.W are not that stupid. Could you only imagine if they did that? It would have an astronomacal effect on future game, hardware and software sales for both parties.
I dont know who is responsible for this mess and i am not the one to point the finger of blame at any of those two parties
but, whoever did this they have ruined and desecrated a game that either everbody loves or hates so they could have a few laughs, giggles proove a point or start a movement. Whichever it is i dont really care. But know this, the consequences of their actions have been fatal. People paid good money for this game and have waited in anticipation for its release. Opinions vary about this game some like it some dont. I myself have my own frustrating problems with it Ie, sitting in a lobby for 10 mins waiting for a match then only to be kicked but the point is this game will never be the same for many people/
Though, as the article says, while the biggest game is bound to get hit by the most exploiters, IW should know that and be prepared. So I wouldn't give them a break because there are a lot of exploiters, just give them a break if the exploits were hard to create. You can't stop all of them, but you can at least make it hard for it to be done.
has been spent buying this game.
I'll give you XBL boys a bone, if you suspect you been caught with a virus, turn off you XBox, and then turn it back on after a minute or two.
And, really, I got hit with one of these matches last night and *shrug* it was actually kinda fun.
Sexual. As a champion extraordinaire of Sony, the PS3, and PSN, for you to shrug Sony's ignorance of the problem off is kind of stupid. I presume you want PSN to be seen as equal to, or in your eyes probably; better than XBL. Well this inaction won't help that. It's already way behind in reputation, and quality of service, this will only give people another reason to laugh upon it as XBL's retarded younger cousin.
'Is Infinity Ward at fault here, or do we blame the sheer willpower of the cheaters?'
What the fuck is that? Same question applies to the situation with PSN, but you blamed Sony. Man, trolling is fun and all, but either I just don't get it, or you are now Microsoft's new employee.
Anyway, I've been listening to Podtoid till 121 episode, and everything you've said was reasonable and you always knew what are you talking about. I'm saying this because I don't want you to think that I'm some kind of hater, because all my responses to your posts are negative, although you don't give a shit, I just wanted to set this straight.
It's just now you're not reasonable at all. Or maybe I turned into easily offended fanboy, in that case I should smoke more.
XBL now has an exclusive virus that is likely the worst virus to ever grace a console, and people have a chance of getting the banhammer from Microsoft by catching it.
I'm chalking this one up as either fate hating Jim, or he broke a couple mirrors right after he finished the PSN article.
Don't ban people, just push through the patch nice and fast, faster than MS did.
I fail to see how that could be considered ignoring the problem. Sure, they didn't ban anyone over it, but they sure did have it fixed quickly.
It was about 3 days after I personally noticed any javelin fucking around that the patch went live, now it was another 2 days at least on top of that for the LIVE (the service which is apparently oh so on top of cheaters / hackers) patch to come through.
I think jim's whole point that Sony was ignoring the problem is flat out wrong, as they pushed IW's fix through so fucking fast.
They knew it was on the way, they knew it would get sorted quickly, so why bother banning users?
Sure they may be ignoring the leaderboard bullshit, but that's a long long way from gamebreaking.
